The funny thing is, everytime someone makes a law saying "don't do" something..people do it twice as much..lol..
Educate the students about making healthy choices, but don't take away their ability to make them themselves.
I'll sell you a bag of skittles for 10 bucks but don't tell anyone..shhh..
They make it more "attractive" to break the rules then just using common sense..DUH...

yeah...like i read some studies about the prohibition era...drinking went up during that time from what it was before, and declined again after alcohol was relegalized...so they said..  |

The school officials have really clarified things well--not.

jeepers creepers can't you guys see that the illegal skittles trade is nothing more than a trainning ground for future street corners drug dealers?...sneaking around the school yard....and of course the kid in the story does what every junkie does when caught, ....denies responsibility...
not to mention how rambunctious. obnoxious, and wired the little boogers can be when they get all sugared up, like little coke heads or something...squirming around in their seats, flapping their traps, rushing out on sweets while disrupting the class wiht silly giggles...
bunch of delinquents...they should throw them all out...

well if it's against the "law", they can put any price on it and make a sale. Just the fact that it is taboo..makes it unpure..or unclean..or something to be secretly desired..

Well, on one hand I'm grateful, cause if this is the biggest story they could come up with, then things are quiet in the country.

Sigh. I wish this were true. But as Juan Cole reported on the same day (Thursday March 13) about events leading up to that time:

The ban on selling candy of any sort at schools probably resulted from a few kids, selling drugs, ruining it for everyone. If rules at schools seem unnecessarily strict, you have to remember who the school staff is dealing with - immature adolescents, many of whom are trying to get away with something the moment they know they're not being watched.
Also interesting: Many of you may know that taking various prescription and over the counter drugs is popular among adolescents. Kids sneak medication out of their parents' medicine cabinets and sell it to other kids at school. Or they steal it from drug stores. Some over the counter drugs produce a high.
Guess what adolescent kids are calling some of these drugs?
Skittles.

A lot of these rules seem to be a response to a growing crisis of obesity among children. It is one thing to ban the sale of junk food from cafeterias and vending machines, it is another thing to try to regulate behaviour in this way. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
