when the rapture happens? when millions of people disappear out of thin air, will you guys believe THEN? or will you try to come up with SOME sort of "logical" explanation?

i mean, A LOT of things that the bible has predicted have come true. yeah, you guys could argue that those predictions are vague, but there's nothing vague about millions of people disappearing.

so, when it happens, will you finally believe? how could you not?

Matthew 24:42-44

"Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him."

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a loud cry of summons, with the shout of an archangel, and with the blast of the trumpet of God. And those who have departed this life in Christ will rise first.

Then we, the living ones who remain [on the earth], shall simultaneously be caught up along with [the resurrected dead] in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so always (through the eternity of the eternities) we shall be with the Lord!

What thinketh you on Ezekiel's "prophecy" concerning Tyre?

IF it ever happens, then it will be sufficient evidence for belief, I would suspect.

You don't have to tell me, if it says it in the Bible I believe it will happen.

You people of little Faith. All thing are not for us to understand at this time. One day though those with Faith will.

Don't let all these folks make you wonder.

The life of Christ proved the OT view of God (written by men) to be dim and inadequate. The love of Jesus was such that he tactfully revealed the personality of the Father yet avoided coming into direct conflict with the inadequacies of mans writings about the Father. The life of Jesus was in fact, a revelation of the Father.

When Jesus referred to the "scripture" he would always use only the true and positive teachings of the scripture while he let the negative elements of scripture die on the vine.

The only prophecy which Jesus ever eluded to dealt with the destruction of Jerusalem at the hands of the Romans. He spoke of the destruction of the false prophets (the Jews) and warned his believers to flee the city lest they parish with the Jews in their rebellion against the Romans. He also taught us to look for an age in the future when his true gospel will eventually subdue the hearts of mankind, world wide. That is the likly time of Jesus' return....for a visit, not to rule the Jews.

There will be no rapture, that is not consistent with the loving prersonality of the Father.

okay okay. you're derailing. i'm not asking whether or not you believe it WILL happen. you "know" it won't, i KNOW it will.

i'm asking, WHAT IF??? WHAT IF YOU'RE WRONG? what if one morning you wake up and millions of people are gone? YES, i could be wrong and it may never happen. the belief that it will is my own.

but i'm asking what you will think IF it does happen? then what?

I answered that:

Now you answer mine Very Happy

You mentioned prophecies coming true in the bible. What of prophecies that didn't come true? What do you think of Ezekiel's prophecy concerning Tyre? He was pretty specific about who would destroy the city and that after that point Tyre would never be rebuilt. I hear it's a neat tourist location now.

Well, based on what supposedly happened to Noah (the only righteous man in the world who ended up passed out drunk and naked in his tent after God saved him and his family) then, the whole thing would start over again.

The Earth won't last forever, when the Sun goes supernova, we're all finished.

That's science.

the book of Apocalypse is so full of symbols that to see it as anything more than metaphor, to me, is just ridiculous.

Anyway, I'm an Animist, but if I see Jesus at the end of the World, and he tells me I've been living in sin, I'll get down on my knees and beg for forgiveness.

I hate to break it anyone but, before the sun goes into a supernova. Mankind is very likely to destroy it themselves.

Destroy the sun? I'm guessing you meant turn the earth to waste. Just a guess.

To the original question of what people will do when the rapture happens, I guess my response would be "What will you do when Ragnarok happens?"

I want to go into business selling asbestos-lined 'rapture-ready' suits to protect the righteous from the flames of hell that jump out of the fissures when the Earth splits wide open during the end times.

I think there are a lot of hard-core Christian fundamentalists who believe that the rapture is coming, and are convinced that they are among the chosen, but nevertheless don't want to take any chances.

I bet there's a big market for my rapture suits.

(Available with and without cape.)
