New doubter on the block

Howdy. Don't hang up the phone when I start by saying, I'm an atheist and secular humanist.

I'm looking forward to discussing beliefs and convictions with theists, and trying to develop a better understanding of one another. Though I'm not a believer myself, I was brought up Catholic, and have spent many years studying religions, religious history and religious beliefs. I'm fascinated by the subject and enjoy discussing it with thoughtful people.

I maintain an open mind and am not anti-religion or anti-faith. Just looking for some understanding and a chance to explain my position.

you say you have studied religions, religious history and religious beliefs and then go on to say: Just looking for some understanding

what is it that you are trying to 'understand' that your studies have not made clear to you as of yet?

Bad choice of words. I just mean I'm looking forward to a dialogue that maybe leads to some better understanding between people who disagree.
