I cannot tell a lie. I've never tasted vegimite but I can't believe it's as bad as marmite. I believe some clever so and so decided to start selling the waste products from the brewing industry and us Pommies and you Ausies are so daft we swallowed it. Literally!
Wonder if I should start selling my waste products??
wilber
P.S. Isn't molasis the waste product of refined sugar? Full of goodness but who wants to be full of goodness? Atoz? Plotinus? |
You are right Wilber. Vegemite is not as bad as marmite.
The really curious thing about vegemite is that you have to have it as a child in order to like it as an adult. There are counterexamples to this statement. But they are few and far between. Non-Australians just don't get it. Curiously, also, marmite has not established itself as a national food the way vegemite has. |

I have cast my vote. I have never let a trivial thing like ignorance get in the way of a strong opinion.
Why do I see that phrase coming back to haunt me???
I wonder if I can find some vegimite in England.
Then there's Bovril (the Bovine equivalent) - have you got it over there?
And is it true that Americans have peanut butter with everything? Yuk! Peanut butter and jam, Pb and french fries, Pb ice-cream hot Pb cappuccino?

I am still a varmit
even tho the last time I tasted marmite
was defintely a fews blue moons back!lol
I bow before the expert opinions of P & W on this very spiritual matter:
since it is so clear to an mite-ignoramus as I am that,
unless we love marmite and vegemite,
how can we love mites and all these other words as God or as other humans or etc?
From Marmite:
A Tamer Mate Tame Meat Team Aim Term Amir Met
Am Remit Timer Mitre Miter Merit Remit Ma Ram Emit
Item Arm Mar Time Tam Mire Emir Rime Mat Art Mime
Tar Rat Trim Mart I Tram At
and from Vegemite:
I Eve Meet Give Teem Gem Mete Vet Veg Teem Tee Get
Vie Tie
Now who wins: M or V:
qualite or quantite or qual-quanite or quan-qualite?smile
I say, Let the mites decide!lol
Blaming in Love those who deceived me into participating for my own benefit, which means Moi!lol

I love pb....I eat it right out of the jar with a spoon. It has to be Skippy brand though. It's the best.
God bless Washington Carver.

Hi All--------
here in the US we have spam(the stuff that isn't good enough for bologna) and spackle(the stuff not good enough for spam) and I would agree that both Vegemite and Marmite tastes better than spackle not because I have tried either but because spackle is just that bad.

I agree one hundred and ten percent. All politicians do as well I am sure.
A vegemite recipe for all you vegemite fans out there: Get two pieces of bread, spread butter on a side each, then a generous layer of vegemite over the butter. Next, sprinkle peanuts (the saltier the better) over the layer of butter and vegemite. Make a sandwich. Place the sandwich on a table cloth on the beach and let the sand get into the sandwich a little bit also. (That's why it's a sandwich. )
Eat and enjoy, being careful to chew gently. |

I have voted a second time! Still out of ignorance. I thought that as this vote was taking place in 'virtual america' I might have to compensate for any irregularities in the counting system. I now declare marmite to be ahead in the poll.
wilber
P.S. I was also interested to see if these polls relied on trust. Question answered. |

In the face of such a nefarious attack on vegemite, I call on all and sundry to witness that I only voted once. I trust in God to see me through this dark hour. |

Watch it talking about SPAM!!!! I LOVE SPAM!!! My father was a cook in WWII and after the war did most of the cooking in our home. He used to cook SPAM for us which is where I learned to eat it. I've had it every way you can cook it: baked, fried, grilled, bbq'd, uncooked, etc. My favorite is fried!! They also now make a SPAM packed in Tabasco sauce that is absolutely OUTSTANDING! I've never heard of spackle??? Heard of potted meat, vienna sausage, sardines, etc. But "spackle?" Just what is that? |
