Greetings to all, glad to be aboard.
I'm from New York, grew up in The Bronx. My wife is a citizen of Australia, she is from SunnyBank! Glad to meet all you Aussies, where women glow and men thunder, and all eat a vegemite sandwhich.
I love Jesus, I cherish the Bible, and i have a strong history, math, E.E., & science background.

Pleased to meet you bart007
I'm from pommy land where cricket is not so much a sport as a rain dance and vegimite is marmite and sooo full of those B vitamins. Yummy.
(I'll not mention rugby - woops, just did).
As for New York, I've never had the chance to travel across the pond but if it's half as good as that song 'New york state of mind', then I'm sold out already.
Hope to see you around.

Hi bart007. Good to meet you. I've underlined the points of contact. I'm an ex-aussie living in Canada, with a steadily diminishing supply of vegemite that I will defend with my life. Fortunately, my wife and daughter hate the stuff, so it is mostly safe from marauding hordes. |

Thanks to all for the warm welcome.
Plotinus, my wife's vegemite lasted a long time, I and the kids would not touch that stuff. She did manage to buy a new jar once in a specialty store in NY. We did share it at a couple of church international dinners. |

Listen guys, we need to open up a thread on vegemite vs marmite: I have it on best evidence and authority that, for starters, vegemite was only discovered in 1982 or shortly before thereabouts by those Down Under! On the other hand, marmite is as old as the hills, 'ranted man! lol
Just kidding!smile
But whatever do you mean by 'ex-aussie?' Plo?
I am extremely upset over you treating your aussienish with such cavalier abandon! huff
I wdnever have thought that any person who had don bradman and neil harvey and ray lindwall and keith miller as compatriot heroes would ever stoop so low and wd always maintain that they were always and forever aussie ex-patriots! huff huff!
Aha! Hark! That's what you meant: aussie ex-patriot or ex-aussie patriot or ex-aussie?
Well!
Why didn't you say so in the first place, for crying out loud!lol
with Love for vegemarite, smile

Since time immemorial, Canada has allowed dual citizenship with most other countries. This is true of Australia now. But it was not true when I applied for Canadian citizenship. I had to give up Australian citizenship at that time. So if I am an ex-aussie it is because the aussie rules of the time made me so.
Vegemite was invented--from beer of course, this is Australia we are talking about--in the 1920's.
They can take away my citizenship, but they will pry the vegemite loose from my cold cold hands! |

Great idea. I'd be happy to have it back. But if you are talking to the Aussies tell 'em I refuse to crawl and grovel. Well, maybe a little.

I cannot tell a lie. I've never tasted vegimite but I can't believe it's as bad as marmite. I believe some clever so and so decided to start selling the waste products from the brewing industry and us Pommies and you Ausies are so daft we swallowed it. Literally!
Wonder if I should start selling my waste products??
wilber
P.S. Isn't molasis the waste product of refined sugar? Full of goodness but who wants to be full of goodness? Atoz? Plotinus? |
