Couldn't care less, merely pointing out that you're quick with assumptions.

Everyone makes assumptions. Mine are based on the highest of probabilities. (Nothing can be known with absolute certainty) And I know that Jews don't struggle with the issue of whether or not God condemns homosexuality. So my "assumption" is a safe one.

What a person does with his or her own life is none of my concern just as long as such behaviors and/or actions do not encroach upon my rights. If gay men want to marry, so be it. Divorce is already rampant with heterosexual couples and homosexual couples seem to break up more often that them so the biggest detriment will be elevated divorce rates.

Seriously, there are really two reasons why gay people want to marry: insurance and taxes. I don't know about other countries but the US makes being married a big tax advantage. Also, if you are married, your spouse is covered under a family coverage insurance plan.

I would not know any other reason gay people would want to marry beyond that because I am heterosexual and don't have any more clues. There is a stigma to "shacking up" but if homosexuality is already viewed as form of deviancy I cannot see where living together would make a difference.

(1) I am not Jewish nor am I a convert to Judaism, I am what is termed a 'G-d fearing Gentile'.
(2) Even if I was Jewish, whether or not the Torah prohibits homosexual activities does not affect my own life. It is up to the individual how they live their own life as long as it does not encroach upon the rights of others
(3) There are many different sects within Judaism. You will find homosexuality condemned among the Orthodox and perhaps somewhat among the Conservative, but to a much lesser degree among Reform and Reconstructionist. The latter two are similar to many Christian denominations with the exception of the acceptance of Jesus.

What the heck is a G-d fearing gentile? With your beliefs, why wouldn't you want to be a Jew? They have an ancient and honorable heritage.

SMDT,

My my, do we have a "fundie" saying it is honorable to be a Jew? Careful.

G-d doesn't look on our religious affiliation. He looks on our attitude and dedication.

I just think Moses disliked hot dogs and lobster. If I want to be a Jew, I need to give those up (and many other things). Did you know that they have a special section in the grocery store for 'kosher' hot dogs?

Seriously, man tries to tie us down to certain affiliations. G-d is not so selfish. He is concerned about how we treat ourselves and our fellow humans. At best I can be considered a deist with leanings towards YHVH as my G-d. I do NOT believe in the inerrancy of the Tanakh. Sorry, my IQ is high enough to disallow such silliness.

Towshab,

Let me ask you, do you think God set those food taboos purely out of concern for the health of His people? Pork not cooked thoroughly can make people sick, and if lobsters aren't boiled alive they are toxic. It always struck me that these rules were temporary as to accomodate their lack of education at the time.

It could be. During the "Black Plague" Jews seemed to resist the disease more than others. Their dietary laws may have been a factor in this.
