Greetings,

I dedicate this to Zathrus and Mojo because I know how you love Revelation and even if you don't agree, I know that you will appreciate the labor.

REVELATION 12

1) “And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:

The woman is Jerusalem (Zion). Here are a few of the reasons why I now think so:

1, God called his people Jerusalem: Matthew 23:37, “O Jerusalem, O Jerusalem,…How often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chicks under her wings…”

2, Jerusalem is the holy city of the Jews; the city where the temple was built and all holy events took place.

3, Jeru(Salem) means peace and ‘the child’ that was born of ‘the woman’ brought peace; Jesus said: John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you, not as the world gives…”
4) Jesus (the child) was born after the order of Melchisedec; king of Salem (peace)

Isaiah 33:20, “Look upon Zion, the city of our solemnities: thine eyes shall see Jerusalem a quiet habitation, a tabernacle that shall not be taken down; not one of the stakes thereof shall ever be removed, neither shall any of the cords thereof be broken.”

5) And most of all, when ‘the child’ was born, Jerusalem became the mother of us all.
Galatians 4:26, “But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.”

The woman (Jerusalem) is clothed with the sun
The sun is Christ.

Malachi 4:2, “But unto you that fear my name shall the SUN of righteousness arise with healing in his wings…” (Yes, I spelled sun right)
Matthew 1:21, “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.”

Revelation 1:16, “…and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.”

Isaiah 9:2, “The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.”

The woman had the moon under her feet.
The moon was created to light the night:
John 1:5, “And the light shineth in darkness…”

The woman (Jerusalem) has a crown of twelve stars.
Jerusalem originated with the 12 sons (tribes) of Israel; the twelve stars.

Ancient maps show Jerusalem within Judah’s boarders as was Bethlehem. The royal and Messianic family of David was of the tribe of Judah and David was king of Jerusalem. Jerusalem is the holy city of the Jews and when ‘the woman Jerusalem’ brought forth her child, he was born a Jew of the tribe of Judah. It was Jerusalem that Christ was crucified and out of Jerusalem, where Christ ‘the child’ resurrected and the church (the New Spiritual Jerusalem and the Spiritual Temple) was born.

2) And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.

For thousands of years great pain and anguish (birth pangs) preceded the coming of the ‘the child’.

Psalms 79:1, “O God, the heathen are come into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps.

Jerusalem cried out for a savior, but the timing had to be right.

David’s throne was in Jerusalem and his Psalms are full of prayers to God for its salvation and prophecies of its rebuilding.

Psalms 147: “The Lord doth build up Jerusalem: he gathereth together the outcasts of Israel (the Gentile nations).
3) He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
4) He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names (The 12 tribes of Israel).

When ‘the child’ (the Messiah) was born, he came forth for the purpose of dying for the sin of the world. When he resurrected, the law and the prophets were fulfilled and we walk in the faith that sin in the flesh is forgiven.

II Corinthians 5:18, “And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ…”

John 1:9, “That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.”

John 1:5, “And the light shineth in darkness…”

Isaiah 4:3, “and it shall come to pass, that he that is left in Zion, and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem:”

3) And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.

The dragon appears to be Satan, but the ‘great red dragon’ with the seven heads and ten horns, and the seven crowns upon his head appear not to be Satan, but the one to whom Satan has given his seat of authority.

Revelation 2:13, “I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan’s seat is…”

Revelation 13:2, “And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.”

The leopard is subtle and stealthy as is deception. With one swipe of a bears feet one is mortally wounded and the lions roar can be heard literally for a mile which could very well represent the great deception that is heard throughout the whole world.

Revelation 13:7-8, “And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindred’s, and tongues, and nations. 8) And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”
9) If any man have an ear, let him hear.”

The seven heads (seven mountains) and ten horns (kings), and the seven crowns (leadership and authority) represent the ‘great red dragon’ and his kingdom (Babylon) and its kings who oppose Christ and make war with the Saints.

4) And his tail drew a third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.”

Ephesians 6:12, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

And his tail drew a third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth:

Jude 6, “And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation…”

Satan’s army are angels that kept not their first estate. They stirred up kingdoms and looked to prevent any attempt made by God to rescue his children. All down through history Satan has tried to destroy anyone connected to the line of Abraham or anyone worshipping God: Joseph was sold into slavery, Daniel in the lions den; Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the fire, just to name a few.

And the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.

Matt. 2:16, “Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.”

5) And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.

Jerusalem brought forth a man child Jesus Christ.

At his return He will rule all nations with a rod of iron and the elect of God will rule and reign with Him as kings and priests, but at present he is caught up to God and seated at the right hand of his throne.

6) And the woman fled unto the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God that they should feed her there a thousand two hun6dred and threescore days.

Jerusalem had known defeated in the past, but the New Spiritual Jerusalem was rebuilt without hands. The New Jerusalem is in us. Until she gave birth she had been nourished and fed by God one thousand two hundred and threescore days.

Matthew 1:17, “So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.”

3x14 generations=42, 42x30 (30 years being a generation) =1260. Jerusalem was fed by God until the time was right that she should bring forth her child.

7) And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
8) And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
9) And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

There was a great war in heaven; I imagine that it was the greatest and most horrific war of all times when Satan and his cohorts were cast out of heaven, for the woman had born a great light that that was the true Light which lighted every man that cometh into the world.

Mankind had been forgiven of sin and Satan lost his right to come before God and accuse the brethren. Mankind was touched by the scepter of God’s kingdom and forgiven of sin whether he chooses to believe or not, but for one to stand as more than a conqueror he must believe. It is the simple and humble faith of a child, that we believe that we have been reconciled to God and forgiven of sin. We don’t see the physical proof of it and it does not appear before our eyes or answer to our intellect that all sin in the flesh is forgiven once and for all, but just as a little child we believe the account that our Father has given to us of his Son.

The mystery of the kingdom had been kept a secret from Satan for thousands of years and it was a one time event in history that Satan made the major mistake: he gave to Judas Iscariot his power and caused our Lord and Savior to be crucified. Ironically it was Christ’ crucifixion that Satan met his defeat and the New Jerusalem was born. Instead of crying out for forgiveness the saints can now cry out:
I Cor 15:55, “O death where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
56) The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

When Christ rose from the dead sin had been forgiven and the law was fulfilled (it is sin in the flesh that keeps the law active, for without the law there is no transgression). Satan was stripped of his power and cast out of heaven by the great Power of the Resurrection.

And at the death (crucifixion) of the testator Jesus Christ a New Covenant (testament) came to be.

10) And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strengeth, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

The kingdom of our God came at the resurrection of Christ, but it came without observation, therefore without the Word we would be oblivious to it. It is by the Word that we hear and believe and walk by faith.

Luke 17:21, “Neither shall they say, Lo here! Or, lo there! For, behold, the kingdom of God (the New Jerusalem) is within you.”

Isaiah 52:1-2, “Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.
2) Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck (sin in the flesh), O captive daughters of Zion.”

Satan can no longer accuse us before God because we were reconciled to God; we are no longer held captive to sin. O the breadth, and length and depth and height of the Love of God; who can imagine it?

We are to walk in the kingdom by faith as new creatures in Christ Jesus. The body of sin died on the cross and until the second coming of Christ we walk by faith.

Because the body of sin in the flesh died on the cross with Christ (we identify ourselves in his death, when the flesh died) Satan has no more power to condemn us before God. The only power that Satan has is to deceive us into believing that the Spiritual Light never shinned and that we are still sinners.

It is good new that man will not be charged guilty of sin in the flesh before the judgment, just as Barabbas was not, because sin in the flesh is forgiven.

When a man falls to his knees before God and starts confessing his sins it is a sure sign he did not believe in the forgiving of sin 2000 years ago. He will be entangled in unbelief and the confession of his mouth. When his transgressions, that he never believe were forgiven, flash before his eyes he will condemn himself; not because of his sins, but because he did not believe. The ‘mystery of iniquity’ is not sin in the flesh, but it is the failure of not believing God.

I pray to God that all those who hunger and thirst for righteousness will be filled:

Romans 3:4, “…That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

11) And they overcome him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Those who believe in this sinless perfection overcome by faith in His shed blood and the Word of their testimony. When Christ rose for the dead we were presented virgins and by faith clothed in righteousness and prepared for the wedding supper of Christ. Take note that the 10 in Matthew 25 were all virgins, but only 5 of them were walking in the light. Their lamps were full of oil (the Word) and their light allowed them to see in the darkness.

The believers are prepared for his coming because our lamps are full of oil and we have put on the wedding garment; robes of righteousness and shine as a beacon on a hill. Jerusalem, by the way, is literally on a 2500 foot ridge. Our testimony is that we are born of God and cleansed of all sin in the flesh.

We are righteous by the blood of the Lamb and we are children of the kingdom, sons of the living God; this is our testimony and we will hold fast to our profession of faith until he comes. We believe we have been cleansed of all unrighteousness because we reckon that the world; both Jew and Gentile, have been crucified with him (we identify in his death). Sins were cut away by the circumcision of Christ and we are new creatures.

Even thought Satan does not have the power to accuse us before God any more, he does have the power to deceive us into thinking that our unconfessed faults are still held against us and we should be on our knees. That is why we are cautioned to take heed and walk in knowledge; Spiritual Knowledge. We are to get off our knees and possess the kingdom, we are not sinner, but sons.

Hebrews 12:12-14, “Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;
13) And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.
14) Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord”

The New Covenant says: “Their sins and iniquities I will remember no more”, Heb 10:17.

Isaiah 34:16-17, “Seek ye out of the book of the Lord, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate (none is widowed): for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them.
17) And he hath cast the lot for them, and his hand hath divided it unto them by line: they shall possess it for ever; from generation to generation shall they dwell therein.”

12) Therefore rejoice ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! For the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

We are advised to put on the whole armor of God (words of righteousness) so we can fight against the lie; the wicked one. The armor is the Word and the Word fights against unrighteousness (the deception that we are still born in sin).

13) And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.

The true spiritual Jerusalem suffers persecution to this day.

II Timothy 3:12, “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.”

I might add that one does not know persecution until they claim the righteousness which is by faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ: our heritage.

14) And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

Jerusalem; the kingdom of God is hidden in the palm of God’s hand and no man can take it; it is Christ in us the hope of glory and until His second coming we will remain hidden and nourished by the Word of Faith from the face of the serpent. God says to his people; resist the devil (have the knowledge of God in you) and he will flee from you.

15) And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.

Revelation 17:15, “…The waters which thou sawest, where the *One Who Practices the World's Oldest Profession* setteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues;” spiritual Babylon.

The world is Babylon and its kingdoms. It would carry ‘the woman’ away, but is preserved by God.

16) And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.

Matthew 2:13, “And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.”

At the time the New Jerusalem was born the earth literally opened its mouth. I will briefly quote from my Thompson Chain Bible #4408 starting at paragraph 16 and on:

Speaking of the Roman Empire:

“In order to test all men’s loyalty, the Roman government required that every one appear at certain public places, and there burn a pinch of incense to the emperor. This the Christians considered “Emperor worship.” They would worship Christ alone as their king. Government authorities began to seek them out and punish them by death.

As a protective measure the Christians donned the cloak of secrecy. They sought refuge in the secret recesses of the underground tunnels of the sand pits, they took their shovels and picks and hoes and extended the tunnels, or fashioned rooms, chapels, and burying places. The catacombs soon became the only safe retreat for all Christians.

The catacombs were discovered, and began to be excavated, in the 16th century, and since 1950 have been excavated rather extensively.

There are about 6 million persons buried in about sixty catacombs (that is correct, 6 million), fifty-four of which are Christian, and six Jewish.”

If all the tunneled streets in all the catacombs were placed end to end they would extend about 587 miles.”

17) And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.”

Acts 20:29, “For I know this, that after my (Paul’s) departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.”

How I read revelation 12 is in Love:

And there appeared a great wonder in LOVE;
a woman clothed with the sun OF LOVE,
and the moon OF LOVE under her feet OF LOVE AS A FOOTSTOOL,
and upon her head a crown of LOVE WITH twelve stars OF LOVE:

And she being with child OF LOVE cried,
travailing in birth OF LOVE, and pained IN LOVE to be delivered IN LOVE.

And there appeared another wonder in heaven;
and behold a great red dragon OF HATE, having seven heads OF HATE and ten horns OF HATE, and seven crowns OF HATE upon his heads.

And his tail OF HATE drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them IN HATE to the earth: and the dragon OF HATE stood before the woman OF LOVE which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her LOVE-child as soon as it was born.

And she brought forth a man child OF LOVE, who was to rule all nations with a rod of THE iron OF LOVE: and her LOVE-child was caught up unto God, and to his throne OF LOVE.

And the woman fled into the wilderness OF LOVE, where she hath a place OF LOVE prepared of God, that they should feed her there ON LOVE a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

And there was war in heaven:
Michael and his angels fought IN LOVE against the dragon; and the dragon fought I HATE and his angels,

And prevailed not;
neither was THE SIN OF HATE IN their place found any more in heaven.

And the great dragon OF HATE was cast out IN LOVE, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world WITH HATE:
he WHO WAS IN HATE was cast out IN LOVE into the earth, and his angels WHO WERE ALSO IN HATE were cast out IN LOVE with him.

And I heard a loud voice saying in LOVE IN heaven,
Now is come THE salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of LOVE OF our God, and the power of LOVE OF his Christ: for the accuser IN HATE of our brethren is cast down, which IN HATE accused them before our God day and night.

And they overcame him by the blood of THE LOVE OF the Lamb OF LVOE, and by the LOVE-word of their testimony; and they loved THEMSELVES AS DEAD AND ALIVE AND SO GAVE UP THEIR LIVES IN LOVE AND SO SEEMED TO LOVE not their lives unto the death.

Therefore rejoice IN LOVE, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in LOVE.
Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea WHO ARE IN HATE! for the devil is come down IN HATE unto you, having great wrath IN HATE, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

And when the dragon OF HATE saw that he was cast IN LOVE unto the earth, he IN HATE persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child OF LOVE.

And to the woman OF LOVE were given two wings of a great eagle OF LOVE, that she might fly IN LOVE into the wilderness OF LOVE, into her place OF LOVE, where she is nourished WITH LOVE for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent'S HATE.

And the serpent OF HATE cast out of his mouth IN HATE water OF HATE as a flood after the woman OF LOVE, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood OF HATE.

And the earth OF LOVE helped the woman,
and the earth opened her mouth IN LOVE, and swallowed up the flood OF HATE which the dragon cast out of his mouth.

And the dragon was wroth IN HATE with the woman OF LOVE, and went to make war IN HATE with the remnant of her seed OF LOVE, which IN LOVE keep the commandments of God, and IN LOVE have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
