I would like to ask for prayer for my condition (it effects the neck area)as well as others that suffer with it.. I just recently found out what I have and have had it for about 3 years. It is very debilitating disorder that medicine or alternative therapies don't have a cure for., I can hardly do anything as far as work and driving really sets it off. There are some drugs that help slow it down a bit during bad times , like Valium and the like but they are only temporary. Some people have it much worse than I do, and I just can't imagine . In a Spasmodic torticollis forum that I go to , some people there have it so bad they can hardly type. Please pray for them. I will be praying for all of you and your special needs .

I will be praying for you and this disease. Have never heard of it before but it really sounds bad. Will pray that God will place His healing hand upon you and give you comfort and peace and restoration. God bless.

Lakewaves,

Praying for you and the others on that forum.

Have you ever heard of psycho-somatic diseases,
in which the pain is real
but the real cause is in the mind?
In p-s diseases,
when the mind is adjusted or corrected,
the disease/pain/etc goes away or lessens.

with Love & Respect for all words,
which Love
is the healthy attitude of mind, even when sick, that makes us well again,
and
makes us doubly healthy when well, 2 Corin 12:7-10

Add my prayers to those of others. I don't know anything about spasmodic torticollis but it sounds difficult to deal with. My sincere best wishes go with my prayers.

Thank you so much for your prayers.... To Atoz ..I wish it were psychosomatic .. To explain what it's like: It's kind of like a nervous tic , but uncontrollable.. Some doctors used to think it was "Tourette's Syndrome" related, but it's "not" not at all related. I know from studies that women get it twice more often as men . Also there is "not" a lot of pain with it , uncontrollable twitches and twisting and pulling of the neck muscles.Plus it is embarrassing . People look at you like your a freak. We even had a president that had it (don't remember at the moment) and many other famous and not so famous.I'm sure there are many out there that don't know what they have , like myself. I thought it was my stressful job , So I quit ...lol that did'nt help. Some poor souls actually become suicidal with the affliction , I feel so bad for them , and pray for them often.
It can affect women in their 30's and up and men mostly in their 50's like myself
The UK has done a lot of studies on the malady , but here in the states if drugs can not be applied , they don't want to waste their time with helping someone. They do use botox shots in the muscles to make them relax. But it is expensive and requires a specialist , plus it has to be redone every three month's, and then there is no guarantee. Bless you all and have a wonderful Christmas and New Year .. As Ever Johnny D.

Hi Lakewaves,
I had a friend read your post and asked me to post this for you on their behalf:

Hi Johnny, my name is Laura, and I read your prayer request on Bible-discussion.

I know precisely the extreme pain you've endured - I've been hospitalized, put in
traction, shot full of pain-killers, put through ice-therapy, etc. for the same condition, and
mine never included spasms! The good news is that I very seldom (perhaps once a
year) have trouble any more, after I discovered how to unlock my neck.

This hurts unbelievably, but is so simple. If you push through the pain and try it a few
times, you'll KNOW when you've done it right, because you'll begin to regain motion
in your neck (and back) immediately, and the pain will have eased considerably.

Lay down on a carpeted floor where there is lots of room.

Stretch out as if you were trying to be as tall as possible (eg: arms above your
head pointing as far north as possible, feet south, straight line.)

Relax for a minute, because it was probably darn near impossible to get down
onto the floor by yourself, and you're about to seemingly make it worse - to the
point where you say "no way, I'm not trying that again."

Keeping your arms above your head, you need to try and equally roll your body
over. Do NOT try to compensate by pushing off with a foot or reaching with a hand.
Keep your body in a straight line. (You'll now be face down and wondering why
you would ever try this.) Do it again, rolling as many times as you have room to
roll. When you're out of room, begin rolling across the room the other way. You'll
still hurt, but if it works, when you stand up, you'll know it immediately, because
you'll have regained mobility in your neck. I do this for about 5 minutes at a time,
several times over the day, and if it doesn't unlock, then I grudgingly make an
appointment with my chiropractor. Haven't seen him in a few years now!
Try this along with prayer - praying it will work for you, too!

Hi Lakewaves. I'll be praying for you. That sounds extremely painful. My MIL has problems w/her back & neck & is in constant pain all the time. Nothing like what you're enduring though. I pray that the suggestion above helps you.

Hi Johnny D,

Thanx for your reply.

Do you blush when it happens due to your embarrassment?

Do you think
that your mental discomfort at being looked on as a freak makes it momentarily worse,
or
that just thinking about the embarrassment makes you feel nervous BEFORE any tics start?

If so,
it is psychological in cyclic part, which re-inforces the somatic part, ad infinitum.

What do you think?

Want me to ask you more questions for your benefit?

It wd help you to see what caused this to begin to happen in the first place,
and what you can do to take away that contributory cause.

The most loving Xmas and New Year to you and family too!

with all Love and Respect,
atoz
