I have to admit to a certain bit of curiousity about How the Christian world thinks about politics, in general.
I wonder how many people in the Christian world understand that the Mark of the Beast, which God warns people about ....will be a political issue ?
Millions of innocent people will be killed or tortured because of the men/or women they voted into office !
And, to top it off....God will hold responsible, the very individuals who voted those persons into office.
The very sins that that president (goverors, senators, ect,) commits, God will visit punishment, upon those very people who voted that person in.
IF...anyone has studied HOW God's Judgment Day works....they will know this to be true ! |

John 18:36; Jesus answered, "My Kingdom is not of this world: If my kingdom were of this world then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence."
Paraphrased: "My kingdom is not of this world, If my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants vote." |

Like it or not we Christians are involved since we are citizens of this country. So lets not leave it to the non-Christians to determine our fate while here on Earth.
One can easily link this with the freewill vs Predestination debate. If we think that we have free will then we must be actively engaged in politics, if we dont then we might just as well leave it in God's hands. |

Since no one wants to get involved with what they hate,
and any involvement with that attitude of Hate for what we are involved in really means disinvolvement or involvment in name only,Mt 24:4-5,
that shd be:
Whether we want to get involved or not in politics,
we xtians have to love politics and pols...so that it is in Love that we stay out,
and when we get hurt enough, we wd get involved in politics with Love......
It's like getting kids to eat their food:
Whether you kids eat it or not,
you have to love it.
Then with that Love in mind,
when you get hungry enough,
you will eat it in Love or get involved with it in Love!smile
in the Love that keeps us involved even when uninvolved, and makes religion out of politics and politics out of religion, 2 Cor 12:9-10

That of course is the short way to heaven being killed because we take a stand for Christ. Based upon God's promise. The God's last martyrs
Rejecting the rewards of this world in favor of God's love in heaven. |

Rejecting the rewards of this world in favor of God's love in heaven. | And it is amazing how few people understand what rejecting of this world's things involves !
Food and entertainments tops the list.
How few Christians eat what God has allowed us to eat, and rejecting the things God has forbidden people to eat.
Entertainments, are another thing few understand.
Does anyone realize the influenece satan has over all forms, of media entertainments ?
There is not a TV ( or movie) show that promotes God's standard of Righteousness.
Music, is another influence satan has managed to control, also.
The list goes on and on.
It is not for nothing that the Bible has called satan, the 'god of this world' (2 Corinthians 4:4). |

The problem is that God doesn't want us to
be hermits for Christ sake isolating ourselves from innocent pleasures the puritans tried that and check out what happened (see Oliver Cromwell and his Lord protectorate which turned into a puritanical prison)
we are to be "in" the world
but not "of" the world.
P.S. rejecting guilty pleasure is one of the least efficacious means of entering heaven, since it is primarily human effort that causes us to stop those things. |

or just what is shown on t.v.?...
the reason i asked, was i have heard old pentecostal holiness preachers preach against the t.v. itself...the invention not the use...just wondering how you stand on it... |

There is a UPCI preacher here in town that is on tv blasting about the evils of "tv." One of the kids in my church goes to school with his son and they go over to the preacher's house and play xbox on the tv in the son's bedroom! Go figure.
Of course, I've heard him rant and rave about all kinds of things to be legalistic (holy in his words) about but he's way obese! Wonder why I've never heard him talk about gluttony? |

1Sa 8:7 And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.
It's a tough call it is. This country was founded on democracy and our being able to choose for ourselves who we put in the places of power.
It began with us believing we knew how best to choose.
And what we see today are the fruits of our ancestors choices..we bear the burdens and so will our children bear ours.
Do we trust the Lord to place those in position he chooses, or do we rely on our own choices?
I sit and I watch. and when those who are good are placed in authority I rejoice, and when those who are evil are placed in authority I mourn. But there is a time for everything under the sun. So that we will learn to choose the good and refrain from evil.
I suppose it all depends on how much one has faith in God to make those decisions and not of ourselves.
but this is only my opinion..
hugs

This is one of those few times where I completely agree with you 45... I think Christians have abrogated their responsibilities as stewards for far too long and have allowed reprobates to cow tow them into believing that being a Christian somehow disqualifies you from interjecting your personal beliefs and opinions into the public forum. |
