Impressive results from the poll so far, I'm pleasantly surprised:

All powerful, isn't he? ;)

Would you like more scriptural proof of the human soul, Mr. Composer?

If you actually read what is written it says ". . . man became a living soul . . ."
He wasn't GIVEN a soul, he was GIVEN God's breath / spirit power that energised 'the dust' and man BECAME a living soul = living body.

Well said Smile, and that same phrase "living soul" has already been used twice for animals. Note also "dead soul" in Num6:6.

Sorry Ben - but we're mortal. 1Tim6:16
God bless

yes, our bodies are mortal, but our souls are everlasting

Do you believe in Heaven and Hell? If you do, then think about this. If our souls are not immortal, then how will it suffer in Hell for eternity if we do not believe, and on the other hand, how can it live in Heaven for eternity if we do believe? Your soul will spend eternity in one or the other. It will never cease to exist.

Hi Dust,

I told you, they will drive a person nut's! Now man has no soul???

You can appreciate from these intellectualism's the difficulty that Jesus faced when he began to preach spirituality to the stubborn religious minds of the Jews. It was the common people that heard Jesus gladly, the religious intellect was an obstacle to spirituality.

Dose not God put his pure spirit in man?

Anyhow, I like your signature from Neil Armstrong. I heard it said another way that you may like:

"The intellectual factors of religion are important, but their overdevelopment is likewise sometimes very handicapping and embarrassing. Religion must continually labor under a paradoxical necessity: the necessity of making effective use of thought while at the same time discounting the spiritual serviceableness of all thinking."

You're absolutely correct. What we have today, this thing we laughingly call Christianity is so far from what God tried to tell us through His Messiah, Yeshua it is a very state of affairs.
People no longer understand how important the Old Testament is to us in order to understand what was being taught by God through Yeshua. These Hebrew men, Yeshua and the Apostles knew the Old Testament scriptures so well they could quote it at will. We read these scriptures over and over again in the New Testament. The problem is because you don't read the Old Testament you can't recognize them. Think about it, the Old Testament are the very same scriptures Yeshua Himself read. He probably learned to read and write with them, and quoted from them.
Yes the New Testament has been altered to agree with the teachings of the church. Mary was a child of 15, and under Jewish law could have been stoned to death for breaking her vows to Joseph, but this is the great mirac;e. she wasn't. Did Mary ride a donkey for miles 9 months pregnant, I don't think so, but movie makers like excitment. Were there inn's in the that day, probably not. Was Joseph a carpenter, I don't see how, when there weren't many trees. Most buildings were mud brick. That's probably what he did.
These and many others are just small differences and do not alter the real message of love and forgiveness that Yeshua was sent to give. For God so loved the world that He GAVE His only begotten son that the world could be saved. He left us with two commandments, to love the Lord thy God with all your heart, and to love your neighbor as thyself. That has not changed. We are now in the so called Christmas season. Scholars today agree Yeshua could not have been born Dec. 25, this was the celebration of a Pagan Goddess, which the pagans gave to Yeshua for His birthday? I don't think He appreciated it very much. It has now become so much a part of a big money making event it doesn't even matter anymore.

Rocket: I think I must be missing your point. What does your post have to do with the Trinity?

Also, I take exception to your comments on Christmas. It doesn't matter THAT we celebrate Christmas on December 25th. It matters WHY and HOW we celebrate.

This is not the place to discuss it but I'll tell you what...you start a thread in Noahs Lounge on Christmas and why it's wrong to celebrate and I'll start a thread on why we should celebrate it. My thread will focus on how myself and others on this board honor this occasion and remember our Lord.

Are you up for it? Let me know.

The commonly held belief that the soul is separable in existence from the body possibly arises from passages in the Bible such as these (among others)......

Genesis 35:18
And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (for she died) that she called his name Benoni: but his father called him Benjamin.

1 Kings 17:21
And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, I pray thee, let this child's soul come into him again.

1 Kings 17:22
And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.

Acts 2:31
He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

Thanks Dust,

It was widely believed in Judaism that the soul "lingered" until the third day after death, then departed. That is the significance of "the third day" with Jesus' death. This was also the reason that Lazerus's family was hesitant for Jesus to raise him from the dead after the third day.

I'm somewhat surprised too. I recently called over 20 churches in the local area where I live. I called different denominations...Catholic, Baptist, Pentecostal, Lutheran, Mormon, JW's....of all that I called, there is only one church that does not believe in the Trinity. The Jehovah's Witnesses.

I've also seen many argue FOR the Trinity on this very site so I am really REALLY surprised by the poll results thus far....
