Well if that's the only thing that shocked her, maybe she should count her blessings. Laughing

Unfortunately, that was minor in comparison to all the other things he was hiding from her and doing behind her back... but that's another (sad) story....

No disrespect intended, but GEEZZZZ! If it took her 2 years to find out he had phony hair, how long did it take her to find out what else he was hiding in the shower.........errr.........closet? Surprised

I wondered, however, after reading your intro on this thread why so many men in the UK choose death over life. That is mind-boggling and so sad.

hi luv...i have been looking inot this for us...here is what i have found so far...

it would seem there are a couple of reasons and more for the suicide rate difference in men and women...

one of the main ones being, that depression in men was not treat with the same aggression as it is in women, and quite often not diagnosted at all...and when it was caught by a professional, the method of treatment, well...in men...it was not really treatment at all most of the time, but mere advice about getting out, eating right and exercising...which a person in depression is not going to do most of the time and with women it usually involved some type of medication for depression, coupleed with counseling...and the medicine seems in times past was much more difficult for men to get a prescription for from a doctor, though that is changing quickly now...so that seemed to be a big factor...BUT....

there also seems to be a flip side to that....the flip side being...

it is much more difficult to get men to talk to someone or ever admit they are depressed....therefore they are much less likely...even now...to know they are suffering from depressing let alone get help for it...

so that is a couple of things...and as a man...it seems insane to me for anyone to choose death over getting help.....

i will ty to find the links on it for you if i can...no promises...i have the worse problem of find cool stuff and not even getting the title of the place i got the info from....

That's what I was thinking when I was reading the preceding paragraphs in your post. My husband is not the depressed type but sometimes, I know that something is on his mind. Most of the time he's wonderful to be around. He treats me well. We get along great. He's a good friend, confidante, lover, father etc... but I can tell sometimes he gets pre-occupied with things and he gets to be a bit of a bear or just not himself and he doesn't really want to talk about it.

I wonder why men have such a hard time talking about their feelings with the one they love? Most of the time, I don't have a hard time telling him when I have something on my mind.

Luv Rolling Eyes Question Confused or disgusted

i think maybe society conditioning has men like that...raising boys to be tough and just get through it...big boys don't cry and all that crap...

those boys grow up to be men that don't know how to deal with certain issues and emotions...

but i am no specialist on the topic...so...take it for what it is worth...next to nothing Laughing Laughing ....

Actually, you are right on the money. Traditionally men are taught not to show emotional distress. To do so would be a sign of weakness or failure, so men tend to deal with the situation themselves rather than expose any doubt or fear. The problem is compounded then, because they feel they have not only failed themselves, but their families, employer, etc., and stress builds further. I'm really not surprised about the suicide statistics you posted.

You both hit the nail right on the head. Men are supposed to be strong. They are our protectors. Women help keep men strong but men help keep women strong too. The men in our lives make us feel just a little safer, a little more secure.

As a woman, I realized as I got older that this is perception. It's not reality and it's not fair to expect so much from someone who is, after all, like me ... only human.

My husband leans on me. I lean on him. We are both strong enough to hold the other one up. I pray that it's always that way because he is my sunshine.

Love, Luv

that was beautifully said luv...thank you for sharing it...

it is like...often we humans forgot that the other person, in whatever relationship, is only human...and being only human, is limited in the same ways as all humans are...with the same fears and shortcomings....

not saying we are all...just...alike...

but we are in many respect...alike....
