|
|
Due to the fact
that
the word Love loves each word and its opposite,
we would and should expect to find and sure enough do find
both a legal and its opposite genealogy,
and vice versa, for JC.
Sure enough,
we find both a legal line and a regal line!
Matthew 1 has the regal line:
Solo, being son of David and king following King David, is the regal line.
Luke 3 has the legal line:
Nathan, being son of David but not king following David not ever king, is the legal line, as is supposed!smile
Details of Regal Line:
2 Samuel 12:
24And David comforted Bathsheba his wife,
and went in unto her,
and lay with her:
and she bare a son,
and he called his name Solomon:
and the LORD loved him.
1 Kings 1:28-30
28Then king David answered and said,
Call me Bathsheba.
And she came into the king's presence,
and stood before the king.
29And the king sware,
and said,
As the LORD liveth,
that hath redeemed my soul out of all distress,
30Even as I sware unto thee by the LORD God of Israel, saying,
Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me,
and he shall sit upon my throne in my stead;
even so will I certainly do this day.
46And also Solomon sitteth on the throne of the kingdom.
47And moreover the king's servants came to bless our lord king David, saying,
God make the name of Solomon better than thy name, and
make his throne greater than thy throne.
And
the king bowed himself upon the bed.
48And also thus said the king,
Blessed be the LORD God of Israel,
which hath given one to sit on my throne this day,
mine eyes even seeing it.
1 Kings 2:
10So David slept with his fathers,
and was buried in the city of David.
11And the days that David reigned over Israel were forty years:
seven years reigned he in Hebron,
and
thirty and three years reigned he in Jerusalem.
12Then sat Solomon upon the throne of David his father;
and his kingdom was established greatly.
Details of Legal Line:
2 Samuel 5:
12And David perceived that the LORD had established him king over Israel,
and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel's sake.
13And
David took him more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he was come from Hebron:
and
there were yet sons and daughters born to David.
14And
these be the names of those that were born unto him in Jerusalem:
Shammuah, and Shobab,
and Nathan,
and Solomon,
15Ibhar also, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
16And Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphalet.
Summary:
So from David we have 2 lines of genealogy:
One line, the regal line, thro Solo.
One line, the legal line, thru Nate.
Story done.

Very interesting post, atoz.
I answered the same question about the two geneologies of Jesus Christ in the gospels of Matthew and Luke a while back, when someone claimed that they were contradictions.
I explained that Luke's testimony referred to Mary's lineage, and Matthew's to Joseph's, also.
But you have done a better job than I, I believe, by providing the scripture that you have done.
Good work! _________________ Peace

Thanx, Hekkler!
Your explanation is the essential one!smile
Mine is just adding in and adding on the nonessentials!smile

Hi Loveall!
When I don't have any idea what whatever means,
I simply ask as JC asked:
What does that thing about such and such that I am seeing or reading or hearing as such and such words mean?smile
Then like JC,
when i get an answer, I comment about that answer, and then ask another question and or answer a question of the person i questioned.
Try it it works!
After all, you are Loveall---so you KNOW you can understand all!smile
Luke 2:
46And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple,
sitting in the midst of the doctors,
both hearing[listening to or, as now, reading] them,
and
asking them questions.
47And all that heard him were astonished [in turn] at
his understanding [when he told them what he thought about he had just read or heard, and asked his perceptive questions]
and
answers [when he answered their questions].
48And when they saw him, they were amazed:
ok?
So come on, be bold and all, Loveall!smile
