Here's what Bush's tax cuts, the Iraq war, and financial mismanagement led to:

Bush's "war on your kids' future" seems to be the one war he is winning...

and I would counter with...You can't go to the Mall and go to War at the same time. Granted our economy is based in large part on consumer spending, so Bush encouraged folks to "go about their business", which I think is a bad idea in wartime. I've talked before about rationing in WWII. It was necessary at first, but not later in the war, but the Gov't kept it up so people "felt the pain"....kept 'em focused on winning with the promise of "good times" once it was won...

I would also say the 2 drunken pork-barreling parties (both Dems and Repubs) spent money on special projects and entitlement enhancements at a HUUUUUGE rate.

Say what you want about McCain, but his record on earmarks is clean. O'Bama? About $750M of that debt he voted "For"...

Repbulicans have a considerably worse record than Democrats when it comes to wasting taxpayer money.

Here is a history of the U.S. national debt, adjusted for inflation:

When Reagan came into power in 1980, the debt skyrocketed. He is a hero to virtually every Republican alive, but he spent your money like a drunken sailor, and he did this after campaigning as a fiscal conservative.

Then look at Clinton. He actually succeeded in turning around the horrendous spending trends established by Reagan and Bush I. But then in 2000, another Republican takes office and continues to waste your taxpayer money as if the world was ending.

The evidence clearly shows that if you want fiscal conservatism, you should AVOID Republicans.

It was Reagan who fooled the Russians into thinking that we might actually be able to shoot down their missiles causing them to give up the race to annihilation. But Reagan's military spending didn't end there. As the first neo-con president his whole diplomatic view was to engage our military and push as hard as he could, everywhere he could, and we're paying through the nose now for a military that needs to go on a diet.

It was under Reagan that our "defense" spending first nearly equaled the rest of the world put together.
