Age has its troubles — failing hearing and eyesight, forgetfulness, aching backs, arthritic hands. These are intimations that we are wasting away. Yet, Paul insisted, inwardly we are "being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more 2 Corinthians 4:1 6-1 8 exceeding and eternal weight of glory"
(2 Corinthians 4:16-17), How so? Very Happy

Quote:
Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. —1 Corinthians 4:16

The way I see it. aging and weakness focus our thoughts on God. We learn to fix our eyes on Him and on unseen realities; we learn to distinguish between the permanent and what is passing away. We are drawn by God's love to set our affection on things above and not on things of earth.
And so we keep our eyes on "the things which are not seen" (v,18). We must look beyond our present frailty to what we will someday be — glorious creatures, bursting with radiant beauty and boundless energy!
So "we do not lose heart" (v.16). We can partner with our pain and go on serving, praying, loving, caring to the end of our days. We can know strength of character despite our frail humanity; we can show patient endurance and love for others in the midst of our discomfort. Despite our momentary troubles, we can press on, for we have glimpsed the glory that far outweighs them all. And that's a fact! Very Happy Very Happy
Love in Him,
Nobby

Amen Nobby!

I may only be 40 but some days my body feels ancient. But the spirit, oh my!! the more I study God's word, the more like a kid I become. Inside it's like you have a dime and your walking in the penny candy store and it's really exciting. It's not what your buying that's the fun part, it's checking out all the colors and flavors and shapes. Laughing

As far as weekness and strength, the world around me has no "hold" over me like it used to. I can see through it, above it, under it. The spirit sees so much more of what is going on around us.
The world is struggling to find peace within. The flesh is seaking health.

It's right there....but you can't touch it with the world's hands, you have to reach out with your soul....

Like having two sets of teeth.
The baby ones (flesh) they make way, or prepare a place for the second set. The more permanent (spiritual) teeth.
You can eat better and chew more with mature teeth than baby teeth..

Now I got me wondering?? I'm just about out of teeth LOL...
Pass the soup please Laughing

Hugs

Lone

Yes Nobby, we do experience ongoing renewal through the constant impartation of Christ's life and power; His influence enables our minds, emotions and wills to be conformed to His likeness and eternal purpose. How do we do this? We feed, mediate, and study His Word. Then, we deposit His Word into our spirits, and release this deposit by speaking His Word out of our mouths. A believer should say that I am healed by the stripes of Jesus, I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me, I am victorious through Christ, and etc. You see, the real you is our spirit condition, which happens at the New Birth. We are not called sinners anymore, but saints. We have been declared not Guilty before the Father, by the Blood. Therefore, we look at Jesus Christ and not sin because we have been redeemed. He will never leave or forsake us. I believe we must exercise our faith while on earth to obtain the many promises mentioned in the Bible. You see, WE MUST FEED AND MEDIATE ON THE WORD DAILY. What a good God.

May God bless, golfjack

The future is seen in the Bible
This knowledge with us God has shared;
By faith we can see the invisible,
The glory that He has prepared. Very Happy

You know... with nothing between us and God,
our faces can reflect His glory. Very Happy Very Happy
Then maybe others can see & get a "Glimpse of His Glory!" #Big Red Grin

Nice thread.
Good post, and always pertinent.
I am just a couple of years shy of sixty (WOW!! I have a hard time believing that!!)
When I wake, I feel just as old as I did when I was in my twenties, until I start to move, and all the little creaks, and cracks start in.
I know most of the aches and pains and failing parts are due to my abuse and neglect of my body in younger years, so, I have to deal with them at that level, but life is too rich in the blessings of The Christ to let them worry me, much.

Blessings to all.
