Fear Not

Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

When I was six years old we lived in Oklahoma City in a neighbor- hood where we always kept the doors locked and bolted at night. To get out the back door, Daddy had a special key that opened the dead bolt from the inside.

One night I was wakened suddenly by the sound of thunder and lightning and a torrential downpour. I rushed down the hall toward my parents' room, but was stopped by billowing smoke and flames coming from the living room. Our house had been struck by lightning.

I had to get out, but how? I couldn't reach the front door because of the flames, and the back door was locked.

On the verge of panic, I was relieved when in the darkness I felt Daddy's warm hand leading me down the hall and out the back door to our backyard. As I stood in the pouring rain, his hand let go of mine and he was gone. Frightened, I turned back to the house. There was Mom calling my name, "Macy! Macy!"

"Out here," I said. She ran out to me, and together we went around to the front, where we found Daddy with Kent, the baby, and my three-year-old sister, Amy.

"You're safe, Macy," he said, sighing with relief. Daddy told me that he had tried to get to me, but couldn't cross the flames. He had not guided me down the hall. He had not unlocked the dead bolt on the back door.

That was twelve years ago, and all these years I've never forgotten the warmth of the Hand that led me then, and leads me now, through the dark.

Its raining here too! Less wild fires, although I don' worry much in the city! Hope those Wild Fires didn't get CLOSE!

Hi Roger...

Ocala National Forest...I'm living in the jungle LOLOL...

the fires are in valousia county, I'm in lake county right next door.
You know, I don't watch tv, but this morning I did and boy was I happy when I looked out my window.
I guess they closed down 95 for sometime now because of the smoke. I'm not worried. I got set down right smack on the St. John's river. about 1/4 mile from my doorstep.
Not that I'd want to jump in it....aligators ya know...and I can't swim LOL..
but there's water if it's needed.
I know last year the river rose over the banks because of the hurricanes, but the say that el nino is turning and that's good news.

what's these little critters...look like little lizzard things. are they camelions or something? I noticed they change colors so cool...
I thought they were gecko's or something but I don't know.

uggghhh not yet...

I got a big ole hoot owl outside my window though. Gosh it's beautiful. and woody woodpecker knocking on the tree every morning...
not sure how I feel about the palm trees yet. They sway so much with the slightest breeze. I'm more used to the pine and spruce and sturdy oak. I got a couple of these palm trees bend...w...a...y.....down to the ground LOL...
I've been feeding the squirels peanuts....I think I might have started something I'm gonna regret LOL...
they've been using my roof as a trampoline Laughing

2 weeks before the old man gets home. I think I'll pull anchor and set sail for awhile.
In the meantime I think I'll just stick with the....if I can't say anything nice then I won't say anything at all motto....
