I have a question for all of you that are ministers. How did you hear God calling you to become a minister? What led you to the conclusion that God was calling you to become a minister? Was it just a feeling inside or were there little signs along the way that you recognized as God calling you? _________________ Don't get caught in the trap of thinking you know everything God has to say b/c you've read the Bible. Sorry, Mojo. I should have said pastor, reverend, leader of a church. Does that clarify? _________________ Don't get caught in the trap of thinking you know everything God has to say b/c you've read the Bible. Remember, God is STILL speaking. And surprisingly, through people we DON'T expect. |

Evee,
Good Morning! YES, We are ALL MINISTERS. . . ! Either for Good -or- For Evil!
1. (Matthew 6:33) But [YOU] seek = first the kingdom of God, = and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
We are Seeking the Kingdom of GOD, by Preaching the GOOD NEWS / BAD NEWS, John 3:16-17-18 -or- we are Pleasing Ourselves -and- the World!
2. (1John 2:15) Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
(1Jo 2:16) For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
(1Jo 2:17) And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
IF WE LOVE THE WORLD = = MORE THAN JESUS = = WE BECOME THE ENEMY OF GOD!
3. (James 4:4) Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
4. (Ephesians 5:17) Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
EVEE, If I said I was a Rev -or- NOT, = = would that make what I said any more Valid = = Than if I said, "IT IS WRITTEN.. Matt 4:4 -&- Luke 4:4 ? ?
IS THIS WHAT A MINISTER SHOULD DO. . . ?
(1Peter 3:15-16) But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: = = and be ready always = = to give an answer to every man = = that asketh you a reason = = of the hope that is in you = = with meekness and fear [of God]:
(1Pe 3:16) Having a good conscience; = = that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, = = they may be ashamed = = that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
Thanks, Roger R. |

Hey Roger! Good morning to you too! Amen & amen to everything you wrote & I agree 100%. Yes, it is everyone's job to minister to others for the sake of Jesus Christ!
I am specifically talking about those that enter the seminary & get a pastoral job as a pastor in a church. Everyone has a job to do:
Ephesians 4:10-12 (New International Version)
New International Version (NIV)
Copyright © 1973, 1978, 1984 by International Bible Society
10He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.) 11It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, 12to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.
from: Biblegateway.com
Let me explain why I ask & maybe it would help clarify my questions. I participate in my church services by being a lay reader & also teaching Sunday School. My regular paying job is a Residential Counselor for the mentally ill in a group home. I had a Director of Admissions of the local seminary pull me aside after service & ask me if I have ever considered going to seminary to become a pastor. I had never thought about it before & I was just wondering if someone else had a similar experience or had an internal calling that they felt was from God calling them to enter seminary & become a pastor. Is that clearer for everyone? _________________ Don't get caught in the trap of thinking you know everything God has to say b/c you've read the Bible. Remember, God is STILL speaking. Evee,
Hey thanks for the kind words! May I share with you some thoughts?
(Ephsians 4:11-12) And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
(Eph 4:12) For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
As the NT was written in Greek, all the words, agree in person, number and gender. The words, "Pastors-Teachers" [note the AND is not there in the Greek] ARE ALL IN THE MALE VOICE!
NO WOMAN, CAN BIBLICALLY CALL HERSELF = = A PASTOR!
She may have a Bible Degree, and have Attended Seminary = AND HAVE A HUMAN ORDINATION = = YET She does not Have ONE FROM GOD!
As the 12-Apostles, WERE ALL MEN = = The issue of Woman Pastors = IS PART OF THAT POLITICALLY [Wrong] CORRECT Thinking!
May I illustrate from Holy Scripture? Plese read Revelation 2:17-to-29! There is a WOMAN PASTOR, there in that Church! What did she teach her congragation?
AND, in Romans 1:ALL, Who left the Natural USE = FIRST, a man or a woman? See Rom 1:26 Women, and then Men Rom 1:27.
AND in Gensis 3:1, WHO DISOBEYED GOD FIRST, the Man or the Woman?
NOW, BEFORE YOU THINK I AM DOWN ON WOMEN? NOT! I am Not! The just can't BE BIBLICAL PASTORS!
BUT GOD SPEAKS ABOUT - THEIR MINISTRY. . .
(Titus 2:3-4-5) The mature women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
(Tit 2:4) That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
(Tit 2:5) To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
MATURE WOMEN ARE TO TEACH = THE YOUNGER WOMEN TO DO WHAT? ? ? Titus 2:3-4-5!
AND, I could go on and on for Hours, JUST LISTEN TO SOME OF THE SO CALLED = = WOMEN TEACHERS ON CHRISTIAN TV OR RADIO!
Do they TEACH = = TITUS 2:3-4-5? NOT! IF they did, there would NOT = = be more Divorces among CHRISTIANS = than among the UnBelievers!
WE, as Christians = = Need Only the Validation that comes form the WORD! Not what comes from A 2006 Christian Politically Correct MINDSET!
Thanks, Roger R. |

It is a thankless job, but it is the will of the Lord Jesus Christ that He would have none perish, for lack of Knowledge.
Because the modern Christian world has allowed satan to come unto them as an 'angel of light' (2 Corithians 11:13-15), so that he may establish his own brand of righteousness.....contrary to the express will of God, which includes the keeping of the 10 commandments, as found in Exodus 20:3-17.
The Gospel of Jesus Christ includes, the keeping of the 10 commandments. _________________ Matthew 5:11 Blessed are ye, when [men] shall revile you, and persecute [you], and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. |

First off what is your name? Evee, Yvette, or what? ha ha
I wonder about people who hear God call them to be ministers too. But, I wonder how they pick a church! ha ha. It seems like they usually pick the one they grew up in. But maybe sometimes they pick the first one that evangelized them, or they pick the one that is the coolest. What kind of church do you go to? |

Roger R, I think you are a little crazy bro. I'm not very good at typing myself or anything, but I know someone who needs to switch to decaf when I see it. ha ha
I think it's cool that you quote the Bible so much. What kind of Christian are you anyway? I mean what denomination or whatever you want to call it. |

My name is Yvette but friends call me Evee sometimes so I thought I'd use that as my handle to enter the site. I can only speak for the seminary we have here where I live, but I'm assuming it's like this all over, maybe not. I belong to the UCC & that particular seminary, you enter & when you graduate, you fill out a profile, much like a general application. Then, you send them out to churches that are looking for a pastor in which you feel you would fit w/what kind of pastor they are looking for. That church reviews your profile & then calls you in for a job interview. If they like you & think you might have what that particular church needs, they come hear you give a sermon. If they like what they see, & feel that you would suit their particular fit of what they're looking for, they have you come do a candidate sermon at their church. Then the congregation votes on whether to accept you as their new pastor.
It's usually a long process. It requires prayer on both parts & reflection b/c you want to make sure that the church & the pastor are a perfect fit for each other. I know from the congregational standpoint, it can take up to 2 years to get a well-suited pastor. _________________ Don't get caught in the trap of thinking you know everything God has to say b/c you've read the Bible.
