Let's you have a chance to visit the office building an oil company. You go inside and go to their research and exploration floor where all of the geologists and geophysicists work on various projects. When you're on the floor, you hear people talking about ancient landforms, fossils, millions of years, and in every office you see that danged satanic chart of the geologic time scale. "Foul ignorant heathens!" you say under your breath.

You then grab a chair, stand on it, and announce, "Okay guys, the paradigm you're using totally wrong! Here is how you really should be looking for oil......"

What do you say?

(ripped bodily from here.)

Actually ... I would have thought that our engineers would have recognised the significant negatives in refining petroleum and demonstrated a new technology to interrupt if not completely end the practice by initiating a ( many ) new resource(s).

Since wealthy people like our american president bushe, who's family fortune is based on petroleum resources, we can expect the practice to contiue until our ozone is systemmatically destroyed and the sun inihilate all human life, even the filthy rich who promote it.

" Stars falling from the sky," might be construed as sun ( which is a star ) radiation falling to earth in the form of a powerful destructive heavenly force assigned to the task in the beginning.

Evolution ...

Thunder: your entire post is a red herring. It has nothing to do with the question I asked, and is nothing but an evasion.

You are welcome to discuss the merits and downfalls of oil use, but this is not the place. However, I will humor your derail.

Our ozone is completely unrelated to petroleum use. The ozone has been "systematically destroyed" by chlorofluorocarbons. They were banned in the developed world in the mid-'90s. The chlorine in the CFCs is what causes disruption in the ozone layer. Two years ago, the chlorine level in the toposphere leveled off, and is falling for the first time in more than 20 years.

Use of petroleum products incurs no risk to the ozone layer. Continued use of petroleum only ensures that it will run out.

So. Can anyone respond to the actual topic at hand?

Evidently ... FFT, you are sitting on a powder keg of valid information concerning the topic.

Why don't you just pull up your chair and school me on all that you know about the thread?

I know that you are eager to pull up your skirt and reveal ...

Just curious FFT,
Do you know if the ozone will ever fix itself, or will it keep eating itself up?
I'd look it up, but your better at it.

It's quite simple, really. Our current secular understanding of geology can be used to predict where oil can be found. I know of no young Earth model which can do the same, hence the original question.

I don't know. I do not know of any young Earth model which can be used to predict the presence of oil.

I'm a guy. I don't wear skirts.

Our ozone is already in the process of fixing itself, as CFC levels have started dropping. It'll take at least 50 years to heal completely, but it will eventually. Once undeveloped countries have completely phased out CFCs, it will heal even faster.

Quote:
The creation and destruction of ozone molecules in the stratosphere are natural cycles. The average life of an ozone molecule is relatively short in nature, but until recently, ozone was being created at least as quickly as it was destroyed since the oxygen molecule continually rejoins to rejuvenate the ozone layer.

The increase of chlorines and bromines into the atmosphere has interfered with the natural cycle.

Ozone is now being destroyed more quickly than it can be created. When the emissions of these chemicals cease, the ozone layer will eventually repair itself. The repair will not be instantaneous. Even if all CFC emissions were immediately stopped, depletion of the ozone would continue to worsen for 15-20 years before any repair would begin. The natural rejuvenation of the ozone will be a very slow process. Estimates are that the Antarctic ozone hole will not be fully repaired until the late 21st century.
From here.

However. This derail is nonetheless a red herring. Oil is unrelated to CFCs in the atmosphere. I would appreciate it if we could stay on topic. If you'd like to discuss the ozone, please create a new thread.

According to Young Earth Creationists, Young Earth creation myths can be inferred from observing the real world, but information about Earth can not be inferred from Young Earth creation myths.

If I'm wrong about that then, I see no reason why they should not be able to answer FFT's oil problem.

Which is, of course, a bit off:

46 of the world's creation myths.
