Another point which we can add is that Jehovah’s Witnesses mix between the Lord being an angel and His
appearance in the form of an angel. The Lord’s occasional appearance in the Old Testament in the
form of an angel does not mean that He is an angel, for He also appeared in the form of a man, as in Genesis 32: 24-30... does this mean that God is a man? |
I don't see the difference. With this you are trying to find a difference between six and half a dozen. All angelic apperances were in the form of a man. Of course that doesn't mean they were men.
Whenever an angel appeared the person or persons were either shocked or afraid. Perhaps this is a reason why with so many angelic appearances recorded in the Bible one of the first things an angel would say is "have no fear" or similar expression. Can you imagine a human's reaction if an angel appeared as something more befitting to what they really are? So I think it was better for us that they appeared in human form.
Besides, only two angels identified themselves by name: Gabriel and Michael. And as far as titles go none of them identified themselves as the only-begotten son of God. So your claim about the identity of the "occasional appearance in the Old Testament in the form of an angel" as that of Jesus Christ is as much conjecture as the Witnesses. |

I'm not sure how believing in and worshipping or paying homage to two Gods can be considered anything but polytheism.
There is but one God. Jesus is Lord. There is a difference yet JW's, by TBax's own admission believe Jesus to be a God also. That is polytheistic.
|
That's not what Tbax admitted to. This is what he admitted to which we have on record in the post above:
| Quote: | False. We do not consider him God almighty, but that is not polythiesm. We worship one God, Jehovah. The Jews were monothiestic, yet they understood that others were properly called gods, even by God himself. And rightly so as: Deut 10:17 For Jehovah YOUR God is the God of gods and the Lord of lords, If Jehovah is a God of gods, then Jesus being termed a god is not out of harmony with that.
Did Jesus consider himself as God Almighty?
John 14:28 YOU heard that I said to YOU, I am going away and I am coming [back] to YOU. If YOU loved me, YOU would rejoice that I am going my way to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am.
John 17:3 This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ.
|
He termed Jesus as "a god" not "the God". And he stressed that they do not worship "a god" but "the God" Jehovah who they consider the Almightly God only. Jesus, in the Scriptures above, showed no claim as being the "Almighty".
Sorry luvnlife but I think you made just too many inaccurate statements about what he said to simply let fly.
Peace. |
