Hey everybody.
Of course, this is my first post on this website. My name is James, and I am a Christian--more specifically, Southern Baptist. I'm 19 and I will begin my second year of college in a few weeks (I had one year of community college, but now get to move out!).
My favorite parts of the Bible to read are Genesis and Proverbs. I like Genesis because by my beliefs it gives us a record of what many scientists and anthropologists are baffled by. I also like Proverbs because from reading it, it gives us what laws we should follow (Don't procreate with so-and-so, don't eat this, don't do that), and I like knowing what I should and shouldn't be doing.
I looked around here before deciding to join, and it looks like a place I could have some good discussion about the Word of God. I'm sure this website and its members will exceed my expectations! _________________ "It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible."

I think you're right and I loved your intro.
I think we could all do with some structure in our lives and I like that you openly admit your need for it.
Mind if I ask what your major is going to be (if you've chosen one)?

Not at all. I'm pretty sure it's gonna be Mechanical Engineering, but I hardly know what it's about. My parents say my love of building things and knowing how they work, along with my new-found knack for math, shows I would like it and be good at it. Plus it's supposed to be good money!
To tell the truth, I'm more interested in using my B.S. to earn a commission in the United States Marine Corps as a Second Lieutenant upon graduation. _________________ "It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible."

Hi newbie!
Welcome to this place.
Lots of great discussions.
I lived in Raleigh for 4 years awhile back.
I thought it was a wonderful state, except for the summers. That humidity will kill ya!  _________________ Pain is inevitable;

Hello jrdouthit,
Nice to see a fellow North Carolinian here, hope you enjoy the conversation. Look forward to reading your posts. _________________ If Jesus Christ were to come today, people would not even crucify him. They would ask him to dinner, and hear what he had to say, and make fun of it. —Thomas Carlyle
