What is it, that the Mormon church, the Roman Catholic church and the followers of Jim Jones have in common? _________________ Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. |

They all had a Pope like figure as there mediator between heaven and hell.
http://www.exmormon.org/pilgrim.htm
By way of preface, I would like to share with you an excerpt from a recent interview with President Gordon B. Hinckley, as reported in the April 13th 1997 San Francisco Chronicle:
Question: You are the president, prophet, seer, and revelator of the Mormon Church?
Pres. Hinckley: I am so sustained, yes.
Question: Now, how would that compare to the Catholic Church? Do you see yourself as Catholics would see the pope?
Pres. Hinckley: Oh, I think in that we're both seen as the head officer of the church, yes.

Jones told his followers to think of him as the incarnation of Christ and God.
Oh…and there cults, like all churches.
Wiki-Cult (religious practice)
"The term cult identifies a pattern of ritual behavior in connection with specific objects, within a framework of spatial and temporal coordinates. Ritual behavior would include (but not necessarily be limited to) prayer, sacrifice, votive offerings, competitions, processions and construction of monuments. Some degree of recurrence in place and repetition over time of ritual action is necessary for cult to be enacted, to be practiced"
Cheers.

They were/ are instructed by their earthly spiritual authorities not to read their bible because they would not be able to understand it and need to have it interpreted for them by others. (priests, elders, Jim Jones)
We have but one mediator between God and man, and that is the Lord Jesus Christ. _________________ Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
