mammon is the pursuit of wealth.

This is what I was trying to say, Thanks Rev JP.
RevJP: | Quote: | | I would have problems with the idea of a Christian with wealth if that 'Christian's' focus is on the acquisition and maintenance of that wealth and not on the things of God. |

No, the warning against "mammon" is the warning against the LOVE of money.
There is nothing wrong with a Christian pursuing wealth.
In fact, God blessed Abraham with abundant wealth. He was one of the most wealthiest men of his time.
Yet Abraham is described in the Bible as a "friend" of God. How can this be????

Eleven, Abraham did not pursue riches, he pursued God.
Abraham proved to us, that there was nothing in his life that he loved more than God.
Genesis 22:12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.
Do you think Abraham loved his material wealth more than he loved Issac? _________________ Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

Eleven, do you know the hymn "Trust and Obey"?
One of the verses, (4th?), goes like this : But we never can know the delights of His love until all on the altar we lay, for the favour He shows and the joy He bestows are for those who will trust and obey.
When we lay all on the altar, as Abraham did, that means not holding back anything from God, even our most beloved posession, then our hearts are perfect toward Him, then He will work in our lives, then He will bless us with a more abundant life. _________________ Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

No of course not. But I don't see what one question has to do with the other. God blessed Abraham because Abraham "believed" God.
In return for his belief, God blessed him as one of the most wealthiest men of his time.
Scripture tells us, I KNOW the plans I have for you.......to PROSPER you and not to harm you.
God loves to prosper His loyal servants.
Nothing wrong with that! _________________ Pain is inevitable;

So according to you, Paul was not prosperous? Or Paul was not a loyal servant? _________________ Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
