Would the NT writers agree with this attitude toward doctrine?

There are still positions which cannot be compromised and part of having a definite religion with doctrines is to insure that you can control your own identity.
Some groups with opposite positions cannot find unity without changing their essential doctrines. I seriously doubt the pope would be willing to compromise the doctrines that put him at the head of the Catholic church nor that that church's hierarchy is less than the "one true" way to God. Those two essential doctrines the Catholic church help define who they are and cannot be compromised. _________________ My boss is a Jewish carpenter.

If that came from someone who believed in the freedom to have independent thought, to not agree with others about all points of doctrine, yet to still recognize them as brothers, I might agree.
I believe in the pursuit of truth, and I realize that is going to lead to differences of opinion.
Coming from the pope, I don't trust it.
Part of the reason the world needs the improvement that the pope is speaking of is the restrictions on independent thought and discovery of truth that his very Church has imposed on the laity over these many centuries.
A unity that comes from having a man or ministry organization tell everyone what to believe should be rejected. _________________ Establishing the law by receiving the righteousness which is by faith, without the deeds of the law!
