My wife and I prayed long and hard before posting this thread, because we didn't want to offend anyone. But, we felt it was important to ask.

NO CONDEMNATION

Scripture clearly states that "there is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus." And, as far as we can tell, everyone here on Bible Discussion are Bible-believing Christians. That means we are all "in Christ Jesus." And we are no longer under condemnation.

A YOKE OF CONDEMNATION

And yet, we read comments like: "Unbelievers such as yourself cannot know or understand spiritual truth!" and "You don't have the Spirit of God!" and "The Bible was not written for all people, but just the children of the kingdom, which you are not!" and "It will serve you no purpose to read the Bible!" and "Please, get out of here with all this rubbish of yours!"

And these are some of the milder quotes we've seen.

In short, they claim that the other believers are still lost (or, at least, they will be lost if they continue in their false beliefs). Or, they claim the other believers are not "elected" or "chosen" (as if they were destined by God to be lost before the world began). This all sounds like condemnation to us, and we're afraid it might place a burden on believers that Scripture says is not there.

WHAT'S YOUR MOTIVATION?

So, we wanted to come right out in the open and ask those who have made these sort of comments: What's your purpose in this sort of language, if not for condemning other Christians? and What are you trying to achieve by making these sort of judgments?

Especially in light of Romans 8:1?

And, please... we don't want to hear from those who feel they have been attacked. We only want to hear from those who have made comments like the ones above. Thank you.

GospelCompilation, I read the other post that this post came from & to me this is just adding flame to the fire!
Now I have spoke to the other member involved! I didn't know that I would have to speak to you & your wife also!
Even though I agree with what your saying. It's just another thread guaranteed flame other members!

We agree with you, Nobby. My wife wanted me to word this thread another way, for fear that it might fan the flames... but the question is still a good one and it is worth asking, in my opinion.

I am sure there will always be those who rely on finger-pointing, name-calling, and condemnation to make their points. But, my question is...

If Christ never stooped to such methods, then why do we?

Would it be okay to address that question?
