| Quote: | | The seventh day was the Sabbath in the OT and to worship God you had to worship him on the Sabbath, but when Christ fulfilled the Law we entered into the rest by faith and if we walk in the faith everyday is the Sabbath. |
Give me some NT proof of this. The few texts in the NT that I have read concerning the " first day of the week" - refer to Saturday night service, being the Jews counted sunset to sunset as a day(not 12 midnight like we count it) Gen 1:5
Why then did the apostles keep on observing the seventh day sabbath after Christs death.
When you say He(Christ) " fulfilled the law" what do you mean? |

Mar 2:27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
Mar 2:28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
You know when I look up the word man..it says Adam.
The sabbath was made for Adam, and not Adam for the sabbath.
The last thing God made before he rested was a place for man to rest in. So that where he is we can be there also.
Mat 11:28 Come unto me, all [ye] that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
So where is Jesus?
Is he in saturday? Is he in sunday?
Just where is he so we can come unto him and have him give us rest?

Mat 26:55 In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily (on the sabbath) with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me.
Mar 14:49 I was daily (on the sabbath) with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled.
Luk 9:23 And he said to [them] all, If any [man] will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily (on the sabbath), and follow me.
Luk 19:47 And he taught daily (on the sabbath) in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the chief of the people sought to destroy him,
Luk 22:53 When I was daily (on the sabbath) with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.
Act 2:46 And they, continuing daily (on the sabbath) with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
Act 2:47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily (on the sabbath) such as should be saved. |

Num 28:24 After this manner ye shall offer daily, throughout the seven days, the meat of the sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD: it shall be offered beside the continual burnt offering, and his drink offering.
Exd 35:2 Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you an holy day, a sabbath of rest to the LORD: whosoever doeth work therein shall be put to death.
Lev 13:5 And the priest shall look on him the seventh day: and, behold, [if] the plague in his sight be at a stay, [and] the plague spread not in the skin; then the priest shall shut him up seven days more:
Lev 13:6 And the priest shall look on him again the seventh day: and, behold, [if] the plague [be] somewhat dark, [and] the plague spread not in the skin, the priest shall pronounce him clean: it [is but] a scab: and he shall wash his clothes, and be clean.
Lev 13:27 And the priest shall look upon him the seventh day: [and] if it be spread much abroad in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean: it [is] the plague of leprosy.
Luk 13:14 And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.
was Jesus performing the office of the priest?
is this why he was indignant?
Because they didn't..?
Luk 14:1 ¶ And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that they watched him.
Luk 14:2 And, behold, there was a certain man before him which had the dropsy.
Luk 14:3 And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day?
Luk 14:4 And they held their peace. And he took [him], and healed him, and let him go;
Luk 14:5 And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out on the sabbath day?
Luk 14:6 And they could not answer him again to these things.
there's that ox who plows in hope falling into a pit..
Jud 1:20 ¶ But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
Jud 1:21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
Jud 1:22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:
Jud 1:23 And others save with fear, pulling [them] out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
Now some would say that only the priests were allowed to work on the sabbath day..
Rev 5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
Rev 5:10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
Well here we are on the earth...and we reign as kings and priests with him...
so what were the priests commanded to do even on the sabbath?
to feed the people, to heal the people, even to preach to the people..to teach the people..and any other thing that was lawful for the kings and priests to do on the sabbath is now lawful for us as his kings and priests upon the earth.
And this they did daily..

Jesus Christ fulfilled the Law....and, asks Christians to do the same as HE did.
John 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
After all........Jesus Christ set the pattern for how Christians are to live.
1 Peter 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
2:22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: |
