I'd want to find out what questions of yours you think I'm ignoring, first.

I can`t remember, but I`m sure we`ll think of something in the debate.

So do you accept?

I'd love to debate you one-on-one, but I have *serious* reservations about you and your rules. If we make 'going off topic' a rule set in stone and give you the power to declare when your opponent is off-topic, then I can imagine that I will write something which is directly on-topic, and you'll declare, "Off topic. I win this debate!"

I have a much more reasonable suggestion: You and I have a one-on-one debate with two moderators presiding over it. The topic will be the age of the Earth.

The moderators will make sure that we stay on topic, AND furthermore they can be the judges. At any point in time we can appeal to them on any given topic and ask which side of the argument has made a stronger *scientific* case.

I nominate Admin and RevJP to be the judges.

If you agree to this in principle (and the moderators agree), then I would love to debate you one-on-one. We can hammer out the exact format of the debate once we have agreed on these broader rules.

Ok
I nominate Nobby and .. Uh ...... Ok P1234567890 - I have no reason not to trust you, but consensus must be between you and Nobby.
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::
So must I contact Nobby?
::::::::::::::::::::::::::
But I think we should make the Topic more about Creation & Evolution! Or is evolution Science or Religion or something like that!

I'd like to have a moderator in charge of the debate. I don't have anything against Nobby, but he is usually a pretty hands-off kind of guy, and he doesn't spend much time in the evolution vs. creation forum.

Or we can have a panel of judges or something like that.

Nobby is here, what do you need? Smile

For a One-on-One I need a title.
Two names to challenge.
You can use your rules.
You must obey the board rules, + afew more that just pertain to the One-on-One!

P123 the reason is I don't know much about about science or evelution. So I don't say much. Now if you really go to fussing you might get my attention fairly quick! Laughing
Just let me know!
Nobby
PS: I could just over see it. Get someone you both trust to drop me a line on a pm & I'll put it on the One-on-One.

I'm afraid I might be biased against both of them.

I have no problems being objective concerning the topic of the debate, but their style of debate would definitely be problematic.

Well, that's perfect. It'd give them both a challenge to be as meticulous as possible. That's one thing I've learned from you - you're so darned picky I can't be even a little sloppy! #Splat

I'll accept you as an unbiased judge of the debate, regardless of our past differences.

I can also make sure that my style will be as logically pure as you could possibly hope for.

Ok Nobby, sure. I guess it'll be me vs. Prysdieheer, and the title of the debate will be "Young Earth Creationism 1 v. 1".

Thanks!

I would like to debate about Creation (YEC) and evolution, not just the age of the earth. I mean if the earth is more than 10000 years old, it does not mean evolution happened.

Sorry Ana, I can't seem to muster the desire to rise to the challenge, regardless of the assurances given.

My experience has been, and it is an accepted sociological/psychological rule that 'the best predictor of future behavior, is past behavior', and in this case I don't see a hope for change.

That's okay; it sounds like they're doing a one on one anyways, and I don't recall judges participating in those before.

Let's start with the age of the Earth because that's a much more constrained topic. Then we can go on from there.

We can start with the age of the earth in the Debate, but I like to debate about the Evolution theory in general. So we can make this topic plain and simple: Creation vs Evolution.
