Genesis 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

Host according to my e-Sword

Host- ; a mass of persons (or figurative things), especially regularly organized for war (an army); by implication a campaign, literally or figuratively (specifically hardship, worship): - appointed time, (+) army, (+) battle, company, host, service, soldiers, waiting upon, war (-fare).

From - tsâbâ' tsebâ'âh
tsaw-baw', tseb-aw-aw'

6th day there was a "host" on the earth. Don't think I've ever heard of 2 people called a host, nor a group of animals called a host.

Anyone have any ideas on this?

Then there was the 7th day afterwards. That obviously this host was there.

I would suggest that the "host" in question is simply the heavens and earth.

The host originates from THEM. Them is the souce of the host. Them being the Heavens and earth. Heavens and earth are the source of the host.

Of - used to indicate distance or direction from, separation, deprivation, etc

- used to indicate derivation, origin, or source

- many other definitions w/similar meansing but...

- add this definition to any other sentence using the
word "of" and it fits in quite nicely.

Adam and Eve were created by God but were they the ONLY ones created ? Does it say anywhere that they were the first two and ONLY two created through supernatural means? Or is there a rather large gap between day 6 and day 7?

You've got E-sword. Is "them" from the Hebrew, or was it an interpolation?

Gen 2:1 (KJV) Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

Interpolated because they don't have a definition of "of them." part. I'm assuming. But assuming creates doctrine and religions. Smile

I'm going to dig a little deeper. Any onlooker that has any suggestions on any downloads or websites that may help, feel free to PM me or post! I don't have many resources because all of this is new to me. Very Happy

~~God Bless!!~~

Edit : If you can read Hebrew

It's "finished heavens earth whole host," if you just directly translate the Hebrew into English.

As Strong's points out, it can mean a mass of persons or, figuratively, things. I would argue that the "things" are the heavens and earth.

Hi M1337,

It is clear that God created the universe at one and the same time.

And if any order of creation was involved,
that he created the best of the universe, Mother Earth, last as per both Genesis 1:1 and 2:1,
just as he also created last his crowning creation, humans,
just as he created last, the woman, the mother of mothers, the pinnacle perigee of all creation!smile

Do I hear a resonating and resounding 'Amen' ladies and gentlemen for God for saving the best for last?!smile

With the Love, The E-Word that
saves the best for last,
makes first of last and last of first
just as
Love makes space of time and time of space,
and
made the chicken before the egg,
and
made the egg of the earth last,

Why is there not a cross reference calling "Heaven and earth" a host.

Psalm 33:6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.

Psalms 148:2 Praise ye him, all his angels: praise ye him, all his hosts

Deut 4:19 And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest be driven to worship them, and serve them, which the LORD thy God hath divided unto all nations under the whole heaven.

Deut 17:3 And hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded;

2 Kings 21:3-5 For he built up again the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he reared up altars for Baal, and made a grove, as did Ahab king of Israel; and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them. 4 And he built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD said, In Jerusalem will I put my name. 5 And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD.
