I just cooked up myself some tofu for the first time ever.
I fried it with a little olive oil, some mushrooms, a little garlic powder, a little rosemary and a pinch of basil, and some soy sauce..and I tossed in some spinach, it was ok..until..
I added some peanutbutter..MMMM..
I Love peanutbutter...
Anybody here use tofu in recipes?

Hi Lone---------------
my youngest decided that a veggie lifestyle was the way to go about three years ago.Last thanksgiving in an attempt to please I bought her some tofurkey. Now salads are cool and those Boca patties (not to0 bad a sandwich) but that tofu that was awful.I didn't like it,the kid didn't like ,I gave it to the dog----he ran away.It is still laying out in the side pasture--the ants and buzzards left nasty notes saying that they were not going to eat it either.
Kind of makes me yearn for spackel to take the bad taste out of my mouth.
much love---------knuckle |

you got a recipe for that Hot and Sour Soup TSS?
You know, I fried that tofu in olive oil and it had the "texture" of chicken..didn't taste like chicken though..LOL..
tasted like soy sauce and peanut butter..
Next up:
Bok Choy...
I looked for miso in the supermarket Ana..where do I find that?
Hugs

Hey, hey, hey...don't go knocking my SPAM! It's a true delicacy and only for the most discriminating taste buds. Are you aware that SPAM now comes in Tabasco SPAM, Lite SPAM, Garlic SPAM? Hmmmm? Are you aware that in Korea, Hawaii, Philippines, etc. it is considered a special delicacy? Fried SPAM and cheddar cheese sandwiches! Blackened SPAM! Grilled SPAM with bourbon sauce and onions! I could just go on and on! |

no but i love it...i mean yes, but the ones i have are not as good as some i have tasted so mine would not do justice to the soup...
the best i ever tasted was in a little restuarant that was owned by an old chinese couple...
they put chicken(i think) in theirs which is not the norm, but some people do...i asked him like three times for the recipe but he just smiled, nodded and said..."good soup, good soup"...i think that was all the english he could speak...
the city i lived in at the time shut them down because the inspector found skinned cats in the walk in freezer.... |

Tofu is a blank pallet. It will take on the characteristics of whatever you flavor it with.
I'm thinking y'all just don't know how to cook....
BTW - spam sucks big suckage.... |

I don't think tofu likes me. That night after eating it I had such bad indigestion it wasn't funny..
Maybe if I have it again I'll try it differently like the soup or something..
I haven't had spam since I was a kid. I think I remember it as being like a spicy ham sort of..?
I'm trying out all kinds of new things RevJP. Making my own veggie juice and fruit juice and smoothies..and learning how to cook with spices I never tried before like cummin and cilantro, and veggies like bok choy.
Kind of cool experimenting new things until it comes out tasting like...hmm..not so good soup..lol..
skinned cats in the freezer..man you sure know how to make me lose my appetite..LOL..
hugs

Ok...it's evident that some of you know nothing about fine dining! I"d suggest that some acquaint themselves with the finer delicacies good cuisine associated with SPAM! |
