mm mm good..
You know I signed up for the daily newsletter with allrecipes.com. about 3 years ago. I use a lot of recipes and get a lot of great ideas from there.
I just picked up a ceasar salad for lunch and creamy ranch dressing. We're going to stop shortly and heat up a cup of soup with that...
he got the sour cream and chive baked potato.. (with butter)..
LOL..
thou shalt not steal....
Parmesan...
Thanks Nobby

Hi pastor2022,
you know, I found a recipe for that cajun blackened salmon steak. I posted it in the mind, body, spirit forum under recipes..
Does this sound like something that would be easy to make?
It sounded good to me..mmm

That explains a lot, AtoZ! LOL.... Just kidding!
But some of the things our parents made us eat!
My mom used to make a dish she called S**t on a shingle. It had a cream base and tuna or chicken or hamburger, onions, corn and peas. She served it over toast or noodles. Sometimes it was actually pretty good (depending on what kind of s**t she put in it).
There were two dishes she made that I did not care much for: Spaghetti sauce made with V-8 juice, salt, pepper and garlic powder served over spaghetti noodles and pork and beans with hamburger and onions served over toast.
One thing she did well is home-made bread. I also make great honest-to-goodness hand-kneaded home-made bread. My nine year old makes wonderful bread too.
My favorite thing though, was when she made flap jacks. You take a chunk of bread dough, pull it out in to a flat circle, fry it in shortening and top it with butter, jam, peanut butter, tuna fish, make sloppy joes with onions and cheese or tacos or whatever your little heart desires.
Obviously, it's a real treat here as it's too fattening to eat very often but those rare occasions we do get to cheat, we savor it.

Yes, it's very easy although I mentioned over there in a post that Cajuns use a bit more Cayene and also red pepper as they like it hotter. I think I'll post some of my fav's over there for Creole and Cajun cooking. A lot of them you can make subsitutions for for more "light" cooking. Creole and Cajun cooking calls for lots of butter and oil and sauces. I had grilled talapia with a blackbean/corn salsa topping today along with garlic green beans and a caesar salad. Yum! |

When I was in school taking a home economics course (in the days when they had such a thing) the only dish I can remember making was tuna and green peas casserole. It had a layer of potato chips in it which of course became exceedingly soggy after cooking.
It successfully put me off cooking for life. LOL!

Do you think God really likes okra, liver and hominy?
I grilled up some salmon the other night and topped it with tarragon sauce. Yum! Now that's what I'm talking about!

That's soooooooooo right!
It DOES explain a lot!lol
When I learned all this stuff about Love, I usta ask God:
Why, why, why why why did You wait so long to teach me this stuff?
Look how many years of misery it wd have saved me!smile
Because my mom allowed me to hate whatever,
I wd not eat
squash, pumpkin, chicken, ochros, eggplant, porridge, corila, crabs, shrimp, quaker oats, sponge cake,
and endless other foods I can not recall now,
nothing squishy and sappy and softie with gravy, etc.
And IF she tried to make me eat whatever by saying:
U are not getting up from that table until you eat every last drop,
you know what I wd do?
I wd actually cut up each rice grain and eat each cut piece of that rice grain to see who was going to outlast who!
I always won---but not happily---the worse part of all!
All my mom had to say was:
I don't care if you eat it or not, as long as you love it!
Now Mummy and Daddy have no other food to provide, so if you don't want to eat it, fine.
But you love it,
and so I know that when you get hungry enough,
I know that you will eat because you love it!
story done!
That's why I did with my kids!
Result?
No drama over any foods!
sigh
Parents out there, take note!smile
with Love,

You know what I used to do?
My step-dad used to make us kids eat eggs 4 times a week. I hated eggs back then (but now I love them).
First, I tried skipping breakfast but he would make me eat eggs the next day when everyone else was eating cereal. (He was kind of a control freak).
Then I started wearing my long robe to the table every morning. I would cook scrambled eggs for myself. The minute his back was turned, I shoved the scrambled eggs in to my pocket, went in to the bathroom and flushed them down the toilet. I never did get caught.
Eventually, I learned to love eggs but on MY terms!

My mom liked to over cook meat..
Hamburgers so dry you would choke on them..
I would shove as much of that burger in my mouth as possible, and then wiggle in my seat..I gotta goooo..
around a mouthful..i..utta..ooo..
She knew..but she let me go anyways..and I would spit and flush..lol..
I never came right out and criticised my moms cookin. Most things she made was awesome. She was a better baker than a cook though..
but when it came to meat..bring your skill saw...LOL.. |

Finally, the dish we've all have been waiting for!
Haggis:
"A Scottish dish consisting of a mixture of
the minced heart, lungs, and liver of a sheep or calf,
mixed with
suet, onions, oatmeal, and seasonings,
and
boiled in the stomach of the slaughtered animal."
