Just wondering what it is you folks are seeing in this song. Thanks for filling me in.

I am one folk, a folk who sees
Love in the song,
Love in the lyrics,
Love in music,
and Love in everything!smile

Like this, Jace:

"And this our life, exempt from public haunt, [but inundated with Love for all words]
Finds tongues in trees,
Books in the running brooks,
Sermons in stones,
and
good in everything.
I would not change it."
With regareds to shakespeare's As You Like It [II, 1]

With Love for you, Jacinth,
I see Love and love-songs in you,smile
and see you in Love and in all Love-songs!

Hope that en-courages or en-lovages you. smile

And here's a special bonus for you, Jacinth:

Here is your song,
even nicer than Indescribable,
tho not loved more!:

Your Song
Music by Elton John
Lyrics by Bernie Taupin

It's a little bit funny this feeling inside
I'm not one of those who can easily hide
I don't have much money but boy if I did
I'd buy a big house where we both could live

If I was a sculptor, but then again, no
Or a man who makes potions in a travelling show
I know it's not much but it's the best I can do
My gift is my song [my Love!]and this one's for you

And you can tell everybody this is your song
It may be quite simple but now that it's done
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind that I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you're in the world[or in Love]

I sat on the roof and kicked off the moss
Well a few of the verses well they've got me quite cross
But the sun's been quite kind while I wrote this song
It's for people like you that keep it turned on

So excuse me forgetting but these things I do
You see I've forgotten if they're green or they're blue
Anyway the thing is what I really mean
Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen

And you can tell everybody this is your song
It may be quite simple but now that it's done
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind that I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you're in the world[or in Love]

Now, isn't that a perfect church song in lyrics, in music, in tune, in every way?smile

In the Love that sees everything in each thing,
atoz

It is not a negative term, you know. Rolling Eyes

Right, it is not ONLY a negative term: the devil's advocate is also positive and positively JC :
because
JC loves His enemy-opposite and His friend-composite!smile Mt 5:43-48

1 John 2
1My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not.
And if any man sin,
we have an advocate with the Father,
Jesus Christ the righteous:

in Love of the devil's advocate and God's advocate,

In common parlance, a devil's advocate is someone who takes a position for the sake of argument. This process can be used to test the quality of the original argument and identify weaknesses in its structure.

The phrase "let me play devil's advocate" or equivalent is used in group discussions to counter groupthink; the speaker is about to say something counter to the perceived group consensus and does not want to be personally ostracized for this. An example is Adlai Stevenson's prefatory remark "Someone in this group has to be a coward" before making an unpopular case for conciliation and negotiation in the movie Thirteen Days

Very nice, RevJP. And your point is, what? Should we play multiple choice, here?

Ok.

a) That you can play the Board Instigator?

b) That you can play the Grump that challenges anything that anyone says?

c) That you claim the role of Devil's Advocate?

d) That you are the personal speaker for Jacinth?

e) That you have nothing better to do at the moment than to attempt to be annoying?

F) All of the above?

Confused or disgusted

Hek, I was simply pointing out that all I saw was someone asking a question. I didn't see ulterior motives, just a question.

I understand you, JP. Yet, I was the one who answered their first question, then received even yet another question in return, questioning my answer to their first question.

That, in itself, seemed to show me that there definitely was an ulterior motive. So much, that I had to ask what the motive was.

Then came the "you folks" comment. Idea

And, though I surely may be incorrect, their questioning and latter comment seemed to imply that they did not enjoy the song... and that was their true motive in repeatedly questioning those who said they enjoyed it. Hence, the "Devil's Advocate" label... though I did not mean it in a negative way... but a truthful way.

I personally do not care who likes the song, or not. It does not reflect on my enjoyment of it in the least. Very Happy

But I have to admit, RevJP, that I have not seen you posting much at all since my return, and I had to take my best opportunity to engage you in conversation. Even if it was to mess with you a little. Embarassed Very Happy Very Happy

Well life has a way of intruding on what I would rather do with my time unfortunately.

hekkler, I had no ulterior motives in asking you the questions I asked.

I will admit, though, that I found the song to be the typical parotted stuff that passes as worship music these days. But that is only my opinion, and one that I have no desire to thrust upon others.

RevJp,

I apologize for I as not clear. It is not the message of the song that I was talking about. It is the unoriginal and unimaginative musical style and lyrics which leaves me unimpressed by this song and the countless others just like it. But that is just me. To each their own.

If alls you can do is try to tear people down, then that's not like a good Christian. we nede to encorage eachother to praise Him. sompeople do it diffrently then others. whsat do you know about music anyhow? let's see you do better. i thnik the so called unimagination-like music is good to tell the difference from secular (evil) music. if i hear a praise song right away i know it is becuse the sound iis distinctave. Well where's your song?????

mikeinsarasota, didn't Jacinth say it was just him?

Doesn't he have a right to his own opinion? Shocked
