remember what YOU said JESUS.....

matt6:5And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

let is be so LORD....

Was Jesus forbidding public prayer, or was he denouncing the hypocracy of those who are outwardly religious to please men?

Public prayer has always been a Christian tradition, and a Jewish traditions before. It really twists the words of Jesus to suggest that we must only pray in our closet and no where else.

I think this governor and the people of Georgia are demonstrating another passage that ought to speak to us all if we aren't so quick to judge them.

James 4:

Quote:
6 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says:

“ God resists the proud,
But gives grace to the humble.”[c]

7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

9 Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.

10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.

And James continues by addressing anyone who might judge these people who have clearly understood the need for repentence:

Quote:
11 Do not speak evil of one another, brethren. He who speaks evil of a brother and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.

12 There is one Lawgiver,[d] who is able to save and to destroy. Who[e] are you to judge another?[f]

And neither do I judge you, Seldom, for I have been guilty of this plenty of times, but you might want to rethink your perspective on this event.

Mater Dei, ora pro nobis!
Mother of God, pray for us!

i think you should know what is going on beofre you babble...for your other passage did not demonstrate anything...and the prayer has already come to nothing... Very Happy Very Happy ...

oh no i don't...it will not rain!!! Very Happy Very Happy ...and his prayer will fall on his head...like rain.... Very Happy Very Happy

while we are quoting james...

james5:16 confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.

18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

NOW LISTEN CAREFULLY TO ME MIKIE...IT WILL NOT RAIN WITH ANY REAL EFFECT....until i say it will...

if you think that is crazy...then tell what town you live in mikie....

Either you're delusional or just trying to be funny. But I'm astonished at how heartlessly you hope for a continuance of drought in Georgia and how pridefully you spite those who humble themselves before the Lord.

Have you no fear of what God may visit on YOUR head?

Ok, Elijah, quit playing around and give King Ahab his rain.

Rolling Eyes

Sheesh! These prophets and their power plays....drought here, fire from heaven there, parting waters...it all gets to their head.
