Interesting note that God never intended for people to be in Hell....just satan and his angels......
Matthew 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: |

Good discussion everyone.
Silversurfer, I grew up hearing the same thing. I always thought that hell was not intended for human beings. This might be true, but I'm no longer convinced of it. The thing is, just because hell was prepared for the devil and his angels does not mean that it was not also prepared for human beings. just a thought... |

Since God knows the future, He knew humans would end up there, but originally, Hell was for the extermination of sin, and any created being who hang onto their sins.
And since satan is the author of sin...Oh Well.....
The bottom line is that every person has the choice of being there or not.
BUT, most people never give it serious thought...even people in the Christian world.
The "Once Saved, Always Saved" Deception, and Universal Salvation believers, will find out for themselves if Hell is real. |

How do you know that the "messengers/angels" of the devil aren't people? Jesus says the Pharisees were children of the devil (which clearly was figurative), so how can you be 100% certain that he wasn't using figurative/symbolic/apocalyptic language here?
In all other verses it is humans entering Gehenna - therefore the "angels/messengers" of the devil are fallen humans, sons of Adam, not fallen angels (as Heb 1:14 confirms).

* How many Gehenna/Lake of fire/Second death verses can 100% certainly refer to Acts 24:15 Dan 12:2 humans?
* And how many with 100% certainty refer to literal angels who are "outside" what Heb 1:14 says about literal angels?
To me these verses are a firm proof that the devil is the same in the NT as it was in the OT - an allegory.
