dismissal of the arguer or dismissing the arguer!smile

This is why people who lose arguments by argument feel JUST AS BAD as if personally dismissed as an arguer!
See?

I do see, my friend. But it should be our goal to dismiss the argument alone and to love and cherish the arguer. The arguer may feel dismissed. But we then remind the arguer -- as you have done with your reference to 1 Cor 3:18 -- that we are brothers and sisters in folly. Smile

Seldom,

You are really accusing God of screwing up.

no sir...just saying you have a faulty arguement...

Quote:
Do you think He didn't know that sometimes innocent men would be unfairly executed when He commanded executions?

so you are saying it is ok to kill innocent men if we can get rid of a couple murderers along the way?...

Quote:
Are you really trying to dodge the fact that God gave this commandment not once but several times?

are you dodging the fact that that same command is written among others you have no trouble dismissing?...

Quote:
Why don't you just tell God, "You screwed up. Innocent people were killed because of you?"

oh poor soul...tell me...did GOD accuse them?...or try them...?...or execute them?...

Quote:
As much as liberals love to decry the hypothetical "innocent man executed" they can't cite a single example of it ever happening in U.S. history

nothing but an attack with no bearing on the topic...

.
Quote:
The reason is because our legal system is second to none, and the accused are afforded a vigorous defense. I'm not saying that it's not possible for an innocent man to be executed, rather that we have made it very unlikely.

i am just saying wiht many found not guilty lately...i bet you are wrong!!... Shocked

Quote:
Which is why I say your opposition to God's system of justice is a form of rebellion.

which is why i am saying you are spewing ignorance?...do you think it a sin to eat a porkchop?...

the same law man...

OH THE HYPOCRICY!!!...according to the law...if an innocent man is murdered...the murderer must die...so when a society kills an innocent man... Question Question

and what you said about justice...apply that to society when they kill innocent people... Very Happy

...snip...

Yet God's command was clear.

Which is why I say your opposition to God's system of justice is a form of rebellion

ex.20:14 thou shalt not commit adultry.

let. 20:10 And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbor's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.

duet. 5:18 neither shall thy commit adultry.

..............................................

john 8:1Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.

2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.

3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,

4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.

5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
Deut 22:24

6
This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.

7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.

9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

10
When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?

11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

I have never found ad hominem arguments such as this convincing.

The trick, my dear atoz, is to leave the discussANT out of the discussION. Disagreement is not necessarily ad hominem. But dismissing the arguMENT by dismissing the arguER is.

Hmm.... I was making the point that people who think Tookie Williams was innocent are morons. It's not my fault you included yourself in that crowd.

If I said that people who believe 9-11 was an inside job are morons, and you believed that theory yourself, would I be held responsible for calling you (specifically) a moron if I didn't know? Whether you choose to assign a label or not, there are some really stupid people out there whose life purpose is to make me look smart by comparison.

By the way, I was quoting Bill Murray in "Groundhog Day" when he said, "Some people like blood sausage. People are morons." I think Bill Murray is about the funniest actor I've ever seen. Sorry if my disposition is changing. Atoz really lightened me up with his humor. Somehow I can even laugh at myself.

Hmm.... I don't recall mentioning that Tookie Williams was innocent. You seem to be flogging a dead horse on this one. I assumed that the people you were describing as morons were those who believed that the US court system could make a bad mistake in a capital case.

Right, we are bros and sis in folly,

which means each argument is also to be loved and respected,

since what is ONLY wrong with any argument is the premise of hatred in the argument.

Which is how, for example, I love and respect evolutionists and atheists AND love and respect their arguments which are totally logical when deduced from the illogical premise of the faulty Hate on which they are based.

Any way, we are on the same page!smile
