Easy, SS.

Thanx for asking.

The key is to start where God starts so that there is NO doubt about HOW God loves:

Based on Matthew 22:36-40 and 5:43-48 and 7:12,
God loves unconditionally.

That is,
God
loves himself under all conditions and their opposites,
or
loves himself as all words and their opposites,
which words describe all conditions.
see Philippians 4:11-13. Rom 8:35-39. 1 Cor 13:1-13.

This automatically means that it is a sin to hate any word or person or place or thing.

This means that it would be a sin for God to hate Himself as any word or to hate anyone as any word.

But God does NOT sin and will never sin and has never sinned and will not ever sin and can NOT sin.
qed.

So we know up front that God loved both E & J 100% equally as Himself.

Now God
blessed J with all of His Love for J,
and
cursed E with all of His Love for E.

BUT,
when someone is blessed
and
another one is cursed,
it LOOKS LIKE or SOUNDS LIKE or SEEMS LIKE
the one blessed is loved
and the cursed is hated
EVEN THO THAT IS not REALLY SO!
See?

Plus,
in our human state of sin,
that is HOW WE bless and curse:
We love the one who we bless,
and
we hate the other who we curse!
See james 3 and mat 6:24 and 5:43, 46-47.

So from OUR point of view of Love for one blessed and Hate for the other cursed,
it NOT ONLY looks as if God loved J and hated E,
BUT we conclude ALSO that it MUST be so!
And so we justify our sin of Hatred in heart for self and fellow man using God as our justification!
THE BIG NO-NO SINCE we are actually accusing God of sin!!!!!!!!
See?

So God, hewing always to His goal of Love and so to test or prove our Love,
CALLS it as IT LOOKS OR SOUNDS OR SEEMS as He Himself says in ROMANS 4:17

J have I loved,
and
E have I hated

to TEST or prove our Love for selves as He taught us and so to prove our Love for Him is genuine!

Other similar examples are found in:

Luke 14:26 where, because it deals with parents who God explicity tells us to Honor or respect,
we all explain that CORRECTLY by saying that it only LOOKS as if we are to hate our parents BY COMPARISON IN LOVE, but GOD DID not MEAN FOR US TO HATE OUR PARENTS AND BROS AND SISTERS!
see?

We all explain that the word there is 'miseo' and it means to love less by comparison!

See also Matthew 10:35-37:
Here God reverses the comparison from Hate of E to Love of Himself and now calls on us to love Him MORE than everyone else as if he wants us to love all others less and so hate others more---when the real truth is as he already showed us: We can only love others AS we love self: we can only love God AS we love ourselves: God can only love us AS he loves himself, which means that as in Luke 14:26 God and us can only love others more by comparison in Love]!!!!
see?
So it's just an illusion or delusion that God promised he wd send: see 2Thess 2:9-11: to test our Love for self and others and God.

See also Proverbs 6:16-19: same thing.

Now please read Ps 50:
whole thing, especially from verse 17 to end.

Ok?

The please read Ps 51.
Hope that helps.
And please ask any questions: especially the HARD ones.
I had to answer all of them too---so you can't be too hard on me!smile

God Bless You SS!

with all Love and R for all,
with Hate for none,
With Hate only for the sin of hating anyone,
atoz
