I'm a heterosexual even when I'm not having sex with women, and several of my friends are homosexuals even when they aren't seeing anybody.

Homosexual, heterosexual, bisexual; (when referring to people) these are terms relating to orientation, not action.

I'm confounded by the lack of understanding of the definitional basics.
