These three threads, truth, sin and sanctification are really all interrelated. this is what I came to understand more clearly this morning and hope it blesses you as much as it did me. Very Happy

Hbr 10:8 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and [offering] for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure [therein]; which are offered by the law;
Hbr 10:9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.
Hbr 10:10 By the which **will** (the will of God referenced in verse 9) we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once [for all].
Hbr 10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever **them that are sanctified.**
Hbr 10:15 [Whereof] the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,
Hbr 10:16 This [is] the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
Hbr 10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

What does sanctified mean;

1. to be made holy
2. to be purified/cleansed

In the other thread we learned that truth = Son

Jhn 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

So we are sanctified through Jesus who is truth personified, just as wisdom is personified in proverbs.

Now consider this verse;

1Cr 7:14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.

Heb 10:15 references this;

Jer 31:31 ¶ Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day [that] I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:

Remember, the husband sanctifies the wife, less the children be **unholy** ( not sanctified) The Old Covenant is the law of the husband; it acts like a marriage contract and the Lord was a husband to Israel, the wife.

Rom 7:2 For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to [her] husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of [her] husband.

When Jesus died, there was no more OC/ law of the husband.

Now, Jesus takes a new bride (renewed). Once again, there is the law of the husband and the husband sanctifies the wife that their children may be sanctified (holy and clean)

Even Jesus was sanctified first.

Jhn 10:36 Say ye of him, **whom the Father hath sanctified,** and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?

and back to Heb 10:14 "and perfected forever them that are sanctified **by the will of God**

sanctified (made holy and clean, also consecrated) **and sealed** meaning cannot be broken.

Jhn 17:18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
Jhn 17:19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. (sanctified through him)
Jhn 17:20 ¶ Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

Husband, wife and children.

What is the new covenant or marriage contract?

Jer 31:33 But this [shall be] the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

Sanctification is given by the will of God, through his sanctified Son ( the Holy One,) Jesus, the personification of truth, God's word, who sanctifies for ever (makes holy and clean) his wife and children.

Joe 3:17 So shall ye know that I [am] the LORD your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: **then shall Jerusalem be holy,** and there shall no strangers pass through her any more.
