Ooops... I guess that means your initial steps into Christianity were based on the lies of a now-convicted felon... |

Like I mentioned before... it was his effectiveness that scared the snot out those who disagree with him... not necessarily his message, but those who now have an understanding of what is really going on, are vocal about their opposition to it, and are not accepting this garbage without at least questioning it anymore... that is what scares the snot out of our intellectual elites. They no longer have a corner on the information market or ideas (thanks to the internet) and are in a panic as evidenced by the number of websites decrying the 'evils' of Kent. |
Lack of respect for intellectuals and academia is a pretty big problem in todays world. Once upon a time, intellectuals got the respect which they deserved... In some parts of the world, they still respect knowledge and intellect. |

Um... that wasn't his audience when giving his presentation. He would debate 'scientists'... and any objective analysis of the majority of these debates would clearly demonstrate that he 'ate their lunch.'
Some of them, I actually started to feel sorry for the evolutionists...

It is a problem? Deserved?
Knowledge and intellect are still respected... it is the way it has been abused that has led us to this point. |

Did he even once debate with a credible authority on evolution?
If so, I'd like to see a video or a transcript, because I just don't believe that creationists ever win objectively-judged debates with expert evolutionists. It just never happens.
The opposite is definitely true, though. Richard Dawkins once debated the Archbishop of York, and it was a complete humiliation of the creationist position. One disconsolate clergyman who saw it even scored it, "Lions: 10, Christians: Nil". |

Why do you think so many of my responses turn into gigantic blocks of quote-response? |

You're right... there are two other ones that are not working from that site... Thansk for this link. You'll enjoy it.
Shermer is a brilliant man... but he fails miserabley here. |

I like how Hovind insists that the theory of evolution "leads straight to ... abortion."
Abortion has been around way, way longer than ideas about evolution.

I count one reference to taxpayer money supporting evolution (as a religion in schools of course)
Edit: Two references!
Edit 2: There was a third while I edited
: 4!
: 5! |

Trinity, I like you and you're a good guy, but you have an EXTREME disrespect for academia, learning, and science. You believe that virtually all of the thousands of atomic physicists, evolutionary biologists, geneticists, geologists, astronomers, cosmologists, zoologists, and many other gists are totally full of b.s. and that many of the core theories they believe in are all totally wrong...
Academia and intellectuals are definitely not respected by creationists. Heck, they're not even respected by the average members of society. |
