How many quantum singularities were there in Star Wars? ZERO.
Star Trek on the other hand had singularities coming out of thier ass...

Interesting sidenote on your interesting sidenote:
Earth may 'regulate' itself into a Venusian state. Venus' current condition is the result of a naturally occurring greenhouse effect. It's hot enough to melt lead and the atmospheric pressure is 90 times the pressure of our oceans at 1 km depth. Apparently Venus was very similar to Earth before this happened (link).
So, if it could theoretically happen to Earth (naturally or otherwise), would that make it acceptable? Or should we, if it is within our capacity, try to make sure that doesn't happen to us?

Again, keeping with my theme of Non-Sequiters...when I was a kid, PBS did these "Science in the Classroom" shows..they came on between 9 am and 2 pm and were intended to be programing that teachers could use to augment their classroom....anyway, one of them was a science fiction piece about a guy that developed a way to terraform Venus...launching hundreds of missiles into the Venusian (Venetian?) atmosphore that would drop an algae that could convert the CO2 and what-not into "Earth-like" elements (i.e. H2O)....basically, recreate the "early" Earth atmosphere and create a habitable planet. His big fear was ensuring no life existed there, so numerous studies, probes, etc were sent...no life found. Then, the mission launched, worked as planned, and finally after 10 years, a manned mission was sent to Mars...where they discovered the husks of millions of worms that had died as the result of the changed atmosphere....obviously had an impact on me as I remember it so vividly after almost 25 years....taught (real) science and morality all in one 40 minute episode Ahh, the potential of television as an educational medium....
