| I think both can be accomplished concurrently. |

I watched a very interesting documentary about oil royalties... That's just one more example of government officials (this time not just Republicans) being evil, and massive corporations stealing incredible amounts from the U.S. taxpayer... |

This is good for the country how?
This makes us safer how?
Make the changes they feel necessary and move forward. Getting to say "I told you so!" "We Pwnd! you" and other political crap is just that...
However, I'm sure they will do all of this in order to get a Democrat into the White House...."screw the country, screw the world, just so long as we get to be the once in charge" /sigh |

I don't understand why you think that Democrats are somehow going to ruin the country, and that Republicans somehow have their heads screwed on straight, because they don't. Remember that Iraq is the Republican's fault, and they're the ones who haven't been doing anything to combat global warming.
In my opinion, the Republicans are probably the worst choice to lead the country and that they're going to run it into the ground. The Democrats are slightly better, but they still suck. What you really need as an entirely new party with an entirely new philosophy. |

| I hope the dems take the opportunity to travel the high road, gut out the corruption, and get your country back on track. I think that in reality, though, politicians are, for the most part, magnetically opposed to the high road... |

Yup, the people most attracted to those positions of power tend to be the worst human beings. |

Seems history demonstrates that this is their tendancy - let us hope for the sake of those who fought so hard to regain some power for the left that their efforts aren't wasted as they have so often been in the past. |

Trying to destroy one's political opponent has nothing to do with being democrat or republican, and has everything to do with being a politician.
Democrats don't have some kind of monopoly on political witch hunts... Have you already forgotten about Monica and whitewater???
Both parties do it...
That being said, there is a good argument to be made that making Bush pay for the Iraq disaster seems to be more reasonable than making Clinton pay for his extramarital activities... |

I haven't forgotten, nor is it relevant to what I said. The Dem's have demonstrated throughout history that they tend to lose sight of their 'mission' once they are in a position to do something about it.
You asked the what if, I just commented that hopefully for the sake of those who support the left, that they actually do not waste the opportunity. |

Actually, TSS asked, but no problem. I absolutely agree with you and I hope that the Democrats don't waste the opportunity.
Just remember that they've inherited one heck of a mess, so when they screw up, it's not all going to be on their heads... |

Kellogg / Brown / Root... the Halliburton subsidiary that they tried to sell because they aren't making enough money on it... is that what you want to hear? If this entire episode is actually investigated, this is what will come out. Halliburton out KBR up for sale as it wasn't making money on these supposed sweet heart contracts...
How about just Halliburton... the company that was getting no bid contracts under Clinton... long before Cheney was even working for them... let alone the VP of United States. Halliburton, the company that got preferential treatment under Clinton... not Bush... for contracts.
As I mentioned earlier... be very very very careful what you ask for... as you just might get it... |

This is an interesting point; exactly how many Democrats voted to attack Iraq? Does anyone have the numbers on this? |
