It's getting an awful lot of air time... Remember, this is politics. They're all scumbags. If the Republicans can use the Kerry thing to smear the Democrats before the elections, then OF COURSE they'll do it. And if the roles were reversed, then the Democrats would definitely do it to the Republicans! |

| The interesting thing is that the Republicans don't have to smear anyone or anything, they simply have to keep it in the public eye, which they are smartly doing. The comments themselves are smear enough, they need no help to demonstrate their stupidity, arrogance, and condecension, and by extraction Kerry's. |

Sure, but my point is that Democrats who have nothing to do with Kerry are being unfairly hurt by all of this publicity.
It's certainly Kerry's fault for saying stupid things that offend people, but it's also the Republican's fault for purposefully emphasizing all of this in hopes of hurting Democratic election efforts... |

| You are absolutely correct, and the blame for all of it rests solely with Kerry, not the republicans.

If and when they start voicing an extrapolation of Kerry's idiocy onto other or all democrats, then there will be blame to assign to the republicans, until then any and every democratic candidate who is hurt in his or her campaign by this debacle can and should stand on Kerry's doorstep and point thier fingers at him. |

I agree that the Democrats should be angry at Kerry. But the Republicans are doing a pretty scummy thing by making such a big deal of this. They know that all of the other Democrats will be guilty by association, even though they have nothing to do with Kerry. It's dirty politics. |

| Quote: | | But the Republicans are doing a pretty scummy thing by making such a big deal of this | P, it IS a big deal, they don't have to make it one, nor is it scummy for them to point out to the american public what sort of arrogant ass is in D.C. governing the country.
He is elected as a representative of the people, by the people, and for the people and he clearly has little but disdain for those people. IT IS A BIG DEAL.
My personal opinion is that he should be forced to resign or kicked out of office. How can I trust that he will do what is in the best interests of me and my country if I know what he thinks of me and my country?
I think my dear P123... that you are trying to lay a burden of guilt upon the republicans when you should be doing nothing but voicing your outrage over Kerry's idiocy. |

kerry should not have made the remark...i for one don't understand what part of it was a joke as he claimed...isn't a joke supposed to be funny?...
but i don't think he should be forced to resign...it wasn't a criminal offense and is not illagal to call people stupid...mean yes...but not a crime...but...i do think his supporters should take a serious look at this though...but being he is from mass. ....
he will probably be reelected... ...seriously...i sent him an email...and gave him some good advice...i wonder if he will listen carefully.. |

I don't think he should be forced to resign either. I do believe, that he should do the honorable thing and resign. If this is all he thinks of our soldiers, then he has no business being a US Senator... not that he has any business being one to begin with... this only demonstrates that point. |

Today I saw a video of what John Kerry said for the first time. I still think he's an idiot, but have you guys actually listened to what he said?
He said something along the lines of, "If you're stupid, you'll end up over in Iraq."
He did NOT say, "If you're over in Iraq, then you're stupid."
As a logician, I feel obliged to point out to you that these statements are very different. Everyone seems to think that Kerry said the second phrase, when in fact he said the first.
I still think the guy's a loser idiot, but at least nail him for what he said rather than what everyone thinks he said. |

sorry buddy-but ill have to disagree on that and say IMHO that your interpretation is not even close to the actual.
According to Kerry's notes which were published after the incident he really was talking of the President and how the President got 'Us' stuck in Iraq, but instead of using the word 'Us' he said 'You' and it changed the whole meaning of the intended whereas it became a botched joke and a siezed upon oppurtunity by many to take it the wrong way...happens every day.
Ironically kerry talks of the Pres and his grades when kerry's grades were close to the same level.
A person like Kerry who makes his living serving the country, and who knows he will be scrutinized daily for any statement whatsoever, should be polished and ready to present himself much more clearer and that would eliminate the problem he has encountered..
And his timing was bad. But all of that problem went away when Reverend teddy showed up...
Politics are huhlarryuss! |
