This thread is just more of the chicken little theory that the sky is falling.
P1234 you have been sold a bill of goods that are WORTHLESS.
The oceans are bigger than man and will purge themselfs.[You ever heard of a thing called moon phases and tides?]

Do you even understand how large the ice caps are? When they melt (and unless we do something drastic NOW, they will definitely melt), the Oceans get A LOT bigger. Florida is going to be under water! You think that the tides are going to help with this problem?

okieguitarman wrote:

30 years ago the same people were preaching the impending ice age.
Now which is it?

The people warning of an ice age were wrong. The people warning about climate change are right. All of the science backs them up.

Man is not destroying anything and clear cutting the forest is a good thing as it serves as a fire break.

And the fact that thousands of species are going extinct every year doesn't bother you?

Okie, there is no debating the science. It is right, and you can't argue with it. It sounds like you simply aren't aware of the scientific arguments which prove that global warming is reality. Or do you just not believe in science?

I had to get people to read it somehow!

But I don't think I'm that far off; ecological footprint is an EXCELLENT way of looking at things. One of the problems with all of these environmental issues is that they seem very subjective. Ecological footprint turns it into a science, and that's worth a lot.

When you look at everything in terms of numbers, you can make much better conclusions. For example, ecological footprint immediately gives us the following corollary:

The entire notion of 'developing world' is a farce. Everyone kind of assumes that with enough time, the poorer countries will reach our level of prosperity. Ecological footprint shows that this is impossible; they will NEVER reach our level, especially when you throw population growth into the mix. There simply aren't enough resources on the planet. I find this to be interesting.

The evidence speaks volumes to the contrary, but I guess that's never really a problem for fundamentalists.

Okay, we have an assertion. The oceans can purge themselves.

Okay, okie, where are they purging the pollution to?[/quote

Maybe to the Mississippi River and eventually to Memphis,Tenn.

The only volumes to the contrary are made up by man.

Generations come and go but the earth abides FOREVER.

you see this is one thing that needs to be addressed...for one...yes the earth will abide...it will go on and on....but those living things on it are in deep trouble...and no...you have NO evidence to support your fallicy of this being a 1000 or 5000 year cycle and that was one of the most uninformed remarks i read in a while...

also, there is a such thing as global warming...weare experiencing it...

also men can destroy the earth unless you are calling GOD HIMself a liar!!!...one last thing...

you need to read something...as your remarks on the ozone are nothing more than your own imagination...it is not a natural thing, nor is it supposed to be there nor has it always been nor is it harmless...please don't preach the bible then turn around and say things that are not true...it brings a reproach to the gospel...global warming is a fact...

and make no mistake about it...GOD will judge those that destroy the earth(as men can do it and are doing it)...and your babblings about earth worship was the biggest load of snot that you could have dumped on this thread...and you show you have no understanding of this and just want to spout out nonsense as fast as you can spew it...HE will return and destrouy thos that destroy the earth(which men can do unless...you say the bible is a lie)...so saying "take care of it" is not worship...unless you are saying you worship you family....or your health...or your home...or your car...ect...ect.... Read your quotes again. They make my very point.IT IS GOD[not man] THAT BRINGS THESE JUDGEMENTS UPON THE EARTH.
God brings destruction and not man.Read all of your quotes again and maybe you will understand them.
Even in your Revelation quote it is God that brings destruction.

You have drank too much of the environmentalists kool-aid and it has clouded your judgement.

The oceans. Are purging their pollution. Upstream a river. Yes, I know you're just kidding, but the question remains. If the oceans are purging themselves, where is the pollution going? Can you answer, or are you simply making things up?

Okay so Australians can't step outside without massive amounts of sunblock due to the ozone hole over Australia, but somebody just made that up. Millions of animals have died in oil spills, but somebody just made that up. The atmosphere keeps getting less and less savory, but somebody just made that up.

What kind of nonsense is this? You might as well say that there is nobody on this Earth who saw the Egyptians build the pyramids, so the pyramids don't exist.

WE HAVE ICE CORE SAMPLES DATING BACK 600,000 YEARS! When we analyze the bubbles in them, we find out EXACTLY what the atmospheric gas ratios were at any moment during that span. This tells us EXACTLY how much CO2 there was in the atmosphere at any given time, and when we compare it to the CURRENT CO2 concentrations, they are much higher than they have been at ANY point in the last 600,000 years. Therefore it is NOT a normal, natural cycle.

What are you not understanding about this?

okieguitarman wrote:

When we see pictures of the Amazon rain forest being burned down, those are just tree-huggers staging photo-ops?

Or how about this one... Here is the Larsen ice shelf in Antarctica on Jan 31st, 2002:

Here it is on March 5th, 2002:

In a matter of just a few months, it melted! It had been there for thousands of years, but now it's gone. And just so you know, this is a HUGE piece of ice. It is considerably larger than Rhode Island. You seriously think this never happened and that it's just the product of some tree-hugger's photoshopping efforts?

okieguitarman wrote:

As TSS pointed out to you, there are plenty of places, but I don't know how you could possibly use this as an argument. You seem to think that if it's not in the Bible, then it's not true. There are no computers in the Bible, but you're looking at one right now. So the fact that the Bible says nothing specific about oil spills, rainforest destruction, global warming, and the ozone layer being destroyed is a completely irrelevant point.

okieguitarman wrote:

This is EXACTLY what you are doing. Humanity IS destroying the planet, and anyone who denies this (which includes YOU) is spurning the truth. I just hope for your sake that you don't have children, because they're going to live on a much worse planet than you grew up on, and when they ask why people were so stupid and destroyed the planet, you're going to have to explain to them that it was made possible by people just like you who not only didn't do anything, but actively denied that there was a problem!

Here's another good one... This is Lake Chad. Because of global warming, it has been steadily evaporating. It used to be one of the world's biggest lakes. Now it's almost gone. Do you think that suddenly having no water is going to improve the lives of all the Africans living around there?

I suppose this is another tree-hugger lie...

P#s...the Great Salt Lake...used to just be the Great Lake a few million years ago...

My point, we won't destroy the Earth...we may be destroying our own habitat, that leads to our own extinction, but the Earth will self-regulate just as it has done for millions of years....

If we adapt to the changes fast enough, we survive as a species...if not, then cockroaches will inherit the Earth Smile
