Admin, you would know about this. It sounds like the Opera Director put all of that stuff about severed heads into Mozart's piece, and that those parts were not in Mozart's original production.
Are you familiar with that piece? Was what she was doing relevant? Or are severed heads a stupid idea that shouldn't have been included in Mozart's piece in the first place? |

Sad is prolly the understatement of the year... scary is more like it.
When we become afraid to exercise our right to free speech... then we lose... they win.
I believe this ‘prophet’, so called, was influenced by Satan himself to create a religion that denies the sacrificial death of Christ. I believe this ‘prophet, so called, has is just as guilty of drawing billions of people away from eternity with God as Satan is. His claim to illuminate God’s word was nothing more than a means to destroy God’s word, subjugate women and minorities, and enslave men not only physically, but also spiritually. The religion itself is evil at it’s core… and guarantees an eternity of damnation.
Until Christian leaders are ready to stand up, and begin their dialogue with Muslims with the aforementioned affirmation, we will never be able to begin a proper dialogue. |

I'm embarrassed to say I have never heard of Idomeneo. I was very surprised to hear of a complete Mozart opera that I didn't know about. I don't know the particulars. I wonder why they just didn't remove that part, maybe just the ego of the producer?
Censorship is a hot button with artists, I've done my share of tirades over it. |

Is Satan really necessary? Man isn't evil enough? |

Trinity,
Islam teaches that non-believers are controlled by Satan. And Christians many times say that Muslims are controlled by Satan.
Maybe someone else reading this will ponder that for a couple minutes....

Well, there is a consistent interpretation of reality in which they're both right...
BOTH of them are being controlled by Satan! |

I'm sure those who believe in the 'Pink Unicorn' receive an equal amount of consideration when formulating your suppositions about them too?
Are you kidding or do you actually believe that both have the same amount of validity? Are Christians walking into Mosques, markets, or malls and lighting themselves off and killing innocents? |

They used to do much worse... Crusades, inquisition, witch trials, etc...
Read Pascal's quote below for an explanation which is robust enough to explain both evil Christian deeds and evil Muslim deeds!

And at one time... doctors use to 'bleed' people so they would heal. Does that mean they are still just as evil... worthy of receiving the same treatment / consideration as say... a tribal witch doctor that treats cancer with a little dance and shake of feathers?
The inability to apply any proportionality to these arguments is absolutely amazing!!! |

I happen to AGREE that Islam is very bad. It oppresses its women, and it is stuck in a medieval way of thinking that rejects all sorts of enlightened modern concepts such as democracy as well as a separation between church and state.
That being said, Christianity is also very destructive. It obviously isn't as violent as it used to be, and it is obviously more enlightened today than Islam is, but make no mistake about it; the VAST majority of Christians have strayed very far from the flock, and Christianity is a harmful force today. There are dozens of examples. Just take the Pope and birth control.
Anyways, the main thing I'm taking issue with is the idea that Muslims think Christianity is controlled by Satan and vice versa. I think that bringing Satan into the discussion is silly and doesn't resolve anything; it just makes the animosities worse. |

Seriously, how many times are people going to have to point out that Islam now is just as old as Christianity was during the Crusades?
They're just going through their extrovert stage, people! That ridiculous tradition you adhere to did the same thing! I mean, are you proud of everything you did when you were a teenager? Because that's basically where they are right now. If the world was as technologically advanced during the Crusades as the world is today, silly Christians would be doing the same thing Muslims are now! Well, if there was a much larger much more established religion to do so with at the time, any way.
Christianity got lucky that they were the guys in charge during their teenage years. Islam got the short end of the stick, they got screwed over when they were toddlers. |
