And did so because people were teaching me, and convinced THEY had done it, and they wanted to guide me. Many of them really believed they had, but some were intentionally misguiding me - it was tied in with their job and their income.
And in time it became tied to my job and income too. The difference is, when I DID realize that the bulk (read "all") of it was magical thinking, I walked away. At a great short term cost to myself. But the long term gain far surpasses that short term loss.
Meanwhile, as far as I know the others are still bringing in new people, teaching them - each student will have their own trajectory of seeing through it. I think it took me longer than most, but I have seen many spend their entire lives pursuing this stuff. Again, rock solid info at www.randi.org to refute the bulk of new age pyschobabble.
It was a real shock to me the day I realized all of this, and perhaps the most beautiful day of my life when I look back on it. |
Nothing debunks all of that soothsaying, tarot card, and crystal ball stuff quite like a good advanced physics course. Quantum mechanics objectively proves that none of that stuff is possible.
I live pretty close to the "Church" of Scientology here in Toronto. Whenever I walk by them I see all sorts of poor people getting suckered in. It's really sad. |

Is this a change in the understanding of the natural laws that I haven't heard about? |

Quantum mechanics says that the universe is fundamentally governed by nondeterminism. That means that it is absolutely impossible to predict the future, because the future hasn't been written yet, and could easily go the other way if you make a prediction. This is widely accepted by all of the physicists out there who understand about this stuff. |

INJUNS!!! ...
my wife has cherokee ancestory...it shows a lot in her features...her grand father on her dad's side was a cherokee... off the reservation...
the closest i come is my momma's great grand daddy married a mexican who would be her great grandma...anyway...
the story goes that he was a very devout CHRISTian man as well as a member and supporter of the local methodist church in his home town in alabama...well...they say he meet a little mexican woman and feel in love right....so he decided he wanted to marry her and they went to vist the pastor of the methodist church he was active in for years....they told him they wanted to marry...he said...NO!!!...not in the church...
so they were a little sad but forgiving nontheless and they said they would just go to the justice of the peace...which they did and went back to church together...for service...
the church said...not in our church...leave!!!...so they left....
and what was he to do?....what could he do?...he had been outcast in the town and by his church for marrying the woman he cared about....
he started another church...and pastored it himself....it grew...and many that were at the other church started drifting into the church he started ...and from then on attended his church...
you know i think i will check to see if i can find out if the church he started is still going...i don't know why i never thought of that before... |
