This may sound dumb, but if someone who is not a Christian says a prayer for you, does it count? Let's say the person is Jewish, Hindu, or Other. Thank you and God bless.

Interesting question..........there was a recent 10 year prayer study done but they didn't test things like this. There are LOTS of questions, like does 1 Pope prayer equal 5 bishops equals 20 ordinary people.

I'm not be a wiseacre here, they are interesting questions.

According to the prayer study done, intercessory prayer has no positive affect.

And my inclinations would lead me to believe it is more important the seperate experiences of the people praying, and the person knowing they are receiving prayer. This is the true power of prayer, not the Easter Bunny with a magic wand.

Many people will tell you delightful little stories that prove.....well....they think it proves something, but you will see it's mostly conjecture.

So enjoy prayer, but I'd be concerned more with your own experience during the prayer, than with any actual magic you are performing.

FYI, intercessory prayer DOES have scriptural support, which is why it's done.

True, according to what they reported, but what they didn't report about the study, who was involved, what was prayed for, etc. left a lot of holes...

BTW, I saw a news report a few weeks back that presented a totally different POV on that study. I had meant to take notes on some of the things they reported, but I got distracted.

All in all, that study was lacking in what in measured and what it reported as its findings.

What it boils down to is that I will trust in the truth of God and His promises and not the opinions of those who continue to seek fault in Him and His promises.
