Does the bible teach us that we cannot be diverse? Does it teach that we must all think exactly alike? Does unity of the Spirit mean we must all be clones?
Does God's very own creation not teach us that every man, woman, animal, tree and plant is unique? Does Paul not say a hand is not a foot?
What is it to be unified in the spirit? Simply that we are all plowing in the same hope. We turn over the clods and break them up and sift them. Can we not do this without being contentious about it?
Why are many of you behaving like children, throwing tantrums when you don't get your own way? Petty squabbles and threatenings to leave because someone doesn't see things the same way.
What does the bible say, "You must not muzzle the ox that is plowing" and that the labourer must partake of the fruits.
What does Jesus teach? That we serve each other before we serve ourselves. Much of what I see is people trying to serve themselves first.
What else does Paul teach - that is better to be wronged and take it to ourselves than to lash out in anger. So if you feel yourself wronged, so be it, turn the other cheek. It is a great lesson to us that Jesus remained silent when accused.
I fear that many for all their self congratulations on how well they understand the gospel message, completely miss it. All who have faith produce good fruit and one should have the mentality that we gladly partake of them. If their fruit is not the exact same kind as our fruit, is it something to be upset about? If there meat is diverse, should we declare it's bad? Is God's table not a banquet? Can we not judge the difference between those who have faith and those who don't? And if a person is sincere in heart, are they not our brothers and sisters? Are they not part of our very own body?
Why do you go about to pierce our own body for the sake of being able to say "I'm right and your wrong"
Do you think the Lord is well pleased with this behavior?
Phil 2:3 let nothing be done through srife or vain-glory, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem the other better than themselves.
4: Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
Why are we always looking for the bad and not looking for the good? Surely there is always something good to be had from what gifts the Lord has given each and every one of us. Unity of spirit is to be partakers in Christ **and** his body. Christ is not just you or just me, but many.

who have you ran off now?.... ...also,
honesty is good...let's all try...
...those who reject the word, deny the word, and change the word...have nothing i wish to eat...
and yes we should learn to turn the other cheek ...and some should learn not to slap to start with... ...
plus we are told plainly what to do with heretics...warn them twice....then stay away from them...so are you saying to pull up a seat and feast with belial?... and doctrines of demons?...i won't ever... ...it turns my stomach....
nor will i bid those who teach lies and crap GODspeed...as i am commanded not to...regardless of how some "feel" about it...but many here have a "spirit" that reveals special things to them so the bible is only a passing thought...and they can twist verses from the bible to prove it...and when it is shown...anger and lashing out...when i respond locked threads and shout downs from you...btw...please tell me how you read the "i" as "israel"...or you could just lock this thread also so you don't have to... ...
and when one sits in a chair of a judge...fair judgements...that is what counts most...ones the judger can live up to ...not convenient ones...letting the aggresser go.... ...
(if you think otherwise...you need to reread the thread...you were plainly and point blank wrong...and still are)...
if this is too strong...delete it...but you can't have true reconcilation without honesty...and that is all i am offering here...like you just did... |

Glad to see your back TSS. We may disagree on some points, but we still can be agreeable. Heresy is an awful thing for the Body of Christ, and should be confronted and corrected. Trouble is, many Christians can't take correction. I believe Timothy teaches us correction for direction.
May God bless, golfjack |

How true. I love you too, tss, but more importantly, it is confirmation that prayers do get answered.
On the lighter side, you should expect the occassion flare-up from a red head. I think I do not too badly in the patience end of things.
All I ask is for everyone to consider that our speech can and does hurt others. It would be asking the impossible for all to agree on every single point of understanding.
I want to clear up this point
| Quote: | | when i respond locked threads and shout downs from you...btw...please tell me how you read the "i" as "israel"...or you could just lock this thread also so you don't have to... ... |
I take the blame that I lashed out in a flashpoint of anger, and also that I did not explain myself clearly at the time, so I will do that now.
It's regrettable that due to my lack, tss took this to be directed specifically at him, and I do not blame him as the timing of it would have made it appear so. However, my reaction was not due to his specific post, but in response to a number of threads and an overall tone of the board which was gendering to strife by a number of people and which had been going on even before the shut down last year.
At the time, I was considering leaving myself and only the shut down of the boards prevented me from making it official. I am telling you this so you know that my reaction had a long build up to it and was not because of any single person. Let's just say that there were a few posts over the proceeding days that were the straw which broke the camel's back.
I also want to make it clear that there is a seperation between my responsibilities as a moderater and my personal understanding of the word. It's a thankless job and people seem to hold us responsible for everyone's beliefs and urge us to take sides. For the sake of the board, we must make certain judgments regarding behavior, but we are not holding ourselves up to be experts in interpretation, nor in judgment of anyone's walk. Our duty is to serve everyone as equally as possible regarding the rules of the board and in that we can be no respecter of persons. We are also human and make mistakes.
As this board, made generously availabe to us by Admin, is open to all, believers and unbelievers and people who disagree on points of interpretation, all are entitled to the same respect. We cannot show favoritism to one side or the other, regardless of our own feelings toward any particular person. Favoritism is not our mandate concerning this board, therefore all who overly gender to strife will be warned regardless of my personal feelings toward each and every one of you. We do the best we can without holding ourselves up as being perfect.
Having said that, in regards to my fellow believers, all I ask is that you judge yourselves. If it becomes clear the discussion is going to degenerate into personal attacks and namecalling, it is a simple matter to take the higher road and bow out. It takes two to argue.
That's all. I am not your lord over the word, but as your fellow believer in Christ I will occassionally try to remind you to have discretion and remember mercy and forgiveness and love for one another. If anyone wants to look for fault in that, they will no doubt find it.
Peace and God bless.
