Hi all, i don't know if this is the right place to put this if not Rev let me know where i can ask these question?

Right lets see if some one can get this right in my head?

At bible study we read Philippians 3: 7- 17, and twice the word attain was mention. I have two questions in one here. 1) Is the word meaning the same thing in both versus, and 2) if not what dose it mean in each sense?

Philippians 3: 11

11 and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.

Philippians 3: 16

16 Only let us live up to what we have already attained.

Can any one help me out here please im slow on this one im afraid i think ive had a rough week. lol

Hi hugh, Attain: To Attain means you are about to or going to recieve something. Attained means you already have recieved something. Maybe someone can explain it better than me! Very Happy Very Happy

Greetings hugh,

Paul has given up the law for righteousness and is walking in righteousness by faith. In times past he was a Pharisee and believed that the law was the answer for righteousness unto the resurrection of the dead but, he had been given the revelation of a new and living way; righteousness by faith. His purpose for changing from the law, to righteousness by faith, was to attain or to arrive at the resurrection of the dead.

He repented of the law for righteousness and counted it as dung. "Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of lChrist Jesus my Lord."

None of us has attained to the resurrection of the dead yet and none of us have our new bodies. But one day we will be raised from the dead and will receive a perfect body.

21) "Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself."

Let me know if this helps.

In Christ, Judy

10That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

11If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.

12Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

13Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

14I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

15Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.

16Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.

17Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
