Said the pain was so great, there was no word for it. So the word "excruciating" was created to describe pain like this, and that the word literally means "from the cross".

I doubt it, But I guess the word had to come from somewhere? However for a person to hang by this method certainly must have been excruciatingly painful. When I was in hospital the man in the bed next to me had a nail go right through his foot. It hit the nerves and morphin did not even work for very long before he was screaming again That lasted one week. i was lucky, All I had was 7 big needles with tubes stuck up my foot, one part of a hip bone missing and a completely broken knee. I am still happy I was not him! |
