Despite what the pro-abortionist would like the law to be they cannot get around the fact that if one harms or kills the mother such that the unborn child dies the law goes for homicide on the child's behalf and if both die it becomes a double homicide. Odd thing is that the abortion folk don't just step over they run over to the pro-life side when this happens and holler murder just as loudly as the pro-lifers do. itmt, the law obviously sees the unborn as a person as well.

Is this actually true; if someone kills a pregnant woman, is it double murder? Can you give a citation please?

Incidentally, I think that it should be double murder, but that doesn't mean that abortion is murder. The reason is that we live in a secular society with a code of laws. We can make that code of laws say whatever we want it to say, and it really doesn't matter if some people think that it is inconsistent. We as a society have decided that the mother's wants are paramount. If she doesn't want the baby for whatever reason, then aborting it is not wrong. If she does want it, and she is killed along with the baby, then of course the murderer should receive extra punishment. After all, attacking a pregnant woman is much worse than attacking a regular person.

Besides, even if this is inconsistent, there are plenty of inconsistencies in the legal system. In Canada, for example, it is legal for a dirty 64-year-old man to have sex with a 14-year-old girl (or boy for that matter) as long as he is not in a position of power over her (him). However, if that same man downloads some porn featuring an 18-year-minus-one-day-old girl, then he's looking at child pornography and is guilty of a crime. Go figure. In other words, nobody says that the legal system has to be consistent.

An interesting case would be if a pregnant woman who was scheduled to get an abortion gets murdered. If you are right and normally it is considered to be double murder, should it still be double murder in this case?

Slightly off-topic, but proves your inconsistenty point...there was a recent news story of a woman whose unborn baby was cut from here womb by a barren crazy lady...the crazy lady was charged with murder and kidnapping.

I pointed this out subtly a bit back, but it's a question of consent.
