They also appear to believe that sex itself is a sacred act, which should only be used for procreation. Using birth control makes the act profane, I guess.
I don't remember how they feel about couples in which one or both of the partners is sterile. |

Good question.
What about post-menopausal Catholic women? Are they all expected to move into a convent? |

| Ha ha. Like, "your all dried up honey, no more love for you!" ha ha. Go get your cloister and rosary and prepare to spend the rest of your life praying... for the strength to stop thinking about sex. ha ha. |

Yes, but they'd probably put it more delicately...
But seriously, how do Catholics feel about post-menopausal women having sex? Is there some kind of doctrine on this? |

Are you a catholic mr. nobby? Do you have any insight into the question? Are you sticking up for the downtrodden? Or do you just practice "moral relativism?" Ha ha. Good for you though! You seem like a nice guy. But, I don't know if I consider Misouri to be Dixie or not. I'll have to think about it. You might very well be a yankee though. ha ha.
Dear "catholic friends." Please let me know if you personally think my jokes were offensive, and I will try to make it up to you.
But at least one of you "catholic friends" should try to answer some of the questions here I think.
Fake your funny.
King Kong I agree.
Patty good question, where's these "catholic friends" on this website? I read through this whole thing and didn't notice any comments from a catholic, just a bunch of protestants babbling but not actually saying much about the topic. ha ha. Come to think of it I don't know if Ive noticed any catholic making comments on this website so far. They must be an urban legend. Ha ha. |

I guess I'm the resident Catholic on this board, but I don't spend a whole lot of time on it because I don't have much time. I'll have more time when school is out. I haven't read through all of this, only the last page.
Michael-D, the thing I find most offensive about your posts are your "ha ha" additions. Use a smiley face.
All Protestant churches up until about 1930 also considered birth control wrong. There was a Lambeth conference, maybe that's not the right spelling, but anyhow, when that conference in England decided birth control was acceptable, other Protestant churches agreed. Catholics, of course, still maintain that purposely interfering with God's plan of procreation is wrong. You can call the Catholic Church many things, but you can't call it trendy. We maintain that having sex is a natural act and blessed by God.
Getting pregnant has nothing to do with the rightness or wrongness of the sexual act so post menopausal women or other natural sterility doesn't come into play as judgement of right or wrong.
I have to get ready for work now, but I'll try to get back to this some time this evening. |

So catholics arent just a myth? They really do exist on this website? Ha ha. Well, theres at least ONE. Ha ha. Thanks for actually saying something though. Im actually interested in this issue. And nobody here seems to really know much about it.
cballard what does your name mean? Crisply Ball of Lard maybe? Its tough trying to figure out if theres soem deeper meaning to all these names peple use. Ha ha. I think mine is easy. Its my first name and first initial of my last name. I didt want to give out my last name because im terrified that you christians might find me and set a cross to fire on my front lawn or something. Ha ha.
Let me see if I understand your crazy catholic talk. Ha ha. So basically your saying no. Older women who cant get pregnant can still have sex as long as they didnt intentionally make themselves sterile?
And your claim that ALL protestants once considered birth control wrong is news to me. Seems pretty unbelievable because Ive never heard of a protestant that believed there was anything wrong with birth control. But they ALL used to believe that? Do you even realize what a serious claim that is?
And I do think you catholics are trendy. Your priests wear some wicked cool clothes. Ha ha. I mean - I am stupid by the way, I get all my answers about catholics from Monty Pythons Meaning of Life. Ha ha. |

| I'm simple like you Michael-D. cballard simply stands for my first and last name. While my claim that all Protestants used to believe birth control was serious, it is true. Personally, I see birth control as the basis for the destruction of the family that we are witnessing in the western world today. |

Hi, cballard,
How is birth control the basis for destruction of the family? By letting people choose their family with more care, rather than being forced into situations that aren't beneficial to anyone? The problem with birth control is that a lot of people aren't using it, when they should be.
With birth control, you can choose your spouse (rather than being pressured to marry the other parent of your child).
With birth control, you can choose a time in your life to have babies (rather than having to drop out of school to raise a child, subsiding thereafter on part time wages instead of the salary you could have gotten had you made it through college). |
