Thanks for your very thought provoking reply to my contention that men and women have different roles because together they make the image of God.
You ask the question, 'What part of the image of God was lacking in Christ?'
Your question cerainly caused me to stop and think and I have to agree that there are(as I guess there are with all Biblical questions) some unanswered aspects of your question in my answer. Briefly, my answer is that Jesus deliberately and necessarily chose to be man.
The Bible is very specific that Jesus was the express image of God's nature. Heb 1:3(NASB)and he was also perfect man. Heb2:7, 4:15
Why man and not woman?
Gen 3:15 The seed of the woman who would crush the serpents head is designated as a man
Because he would took Adam's place and not Eve's place
Rom 5:12&19 through one man's disobedience came death - through one man's obedience came life
The responsibility for sin is laid on Adam who was not decieved as was Eve. 1Tim 2:14
1 Cor 15:45 Christ is the last Adam
Christ retraced the course of Adam's fall and rewrote eternity
You also ask, 'Are not all of us as indviduals trying to conform ourselves to the image of Christ'
I agree totally, but the method by which we are to achieve this conformity is given us in Ephesians 4:11-16, especially v16. This tells us that no one of us is in and by ourselves, the image of Christ.
That is my thoughts. I hope they make sense?
God bless

I certainly agree that each of us is gifted to buildup the body of Christ and though we share (or ought to share) some gifts (fruit of the Spirit) not all of us are teachers or administrators or singers! Lets leave it that I am unconvinced of the parallel you draw.
In Christ

I need HELP! I am married, but I have a very strong personality. I was not raised in a Christian environment and was taught to take care of #1. I want to be a good wife and mother, but I find it SO difficult. I am 36 and on my second marriage. What can I do?
Thanks and have a blessed day!
Julie
I as a married woman gladly accept my biblical role in the home. I am my husband's "help meet" and he is my loving provider. God made us and he knows how we work best.[/B][/QUOTE]

| This is an interesting topic because ,women believe they have an equal or inclusive role in salvation as men do. Im not absolutely convinced of this based on the fact that the first resurrection or first fruits consist of 144,00,men,undefiled by women. Women seem to be compleletly eliminated in this group. I wonder how many women were aware of this fact ,and how they think and feel about it? |

| I am also a christian wife. My husband and I work very well together. My husband supports me in all that I do. When decisions need to be made, we make them together because we are partners. |

Your statement as posted is not quite biblical. She was never told to lust for any man, but rather:
(Gen 3:16) And he said to the woman, "I will increase your trouble in pregnancy and your pain in giving birth. In spite of this, you will still have desire for your husband, yet you will be subject to him."
As for domination, this was never what G-d commanded. Only that the husband is to set the "tone" as to how they are to serve G-d. As Avraham was commanded to listen to his wife in certain matters. |

| Actually, Van's statement was a question, so I don't see how it could be 'not quite biblical'... |

Well, it is not possible to answer some questions because they are not properly formulated. And one will not get the answer that they are seeking if it is not properly stated , and this case on biblical principles.
That stated, i'm far from perfect. |

The Bible says, ". . . ASK YOUR HUSBAND, at home"
Ask him to look up all the verses in the Bible about how a WOMAN should respond to her OWN HUSBAND and read them to YOU. Then receive them as if they were spoken directly to you by Our Heavenly Father, through YOUR HUSBAND'S MOUTH. (because they were) and then SUBMIT to those WORDS spoken TO YOU through YOUR HUSBAND'D MOUTH, as unto the LORD.
This is a "GOS-PILL", if taken at least twice a day, (or more often, if needed), will bring healing to your spiritual "infirmities" |

If my husband yelled at me in such bold and capital letters, I would suggest he was the one who needed the GOS-PILL. |

When I use the BOLD TEXT, I do it purely for emphasis. I use the "Emoticons" to convey my "Moods"
I LOVE Bible discussions! I'm NEVER in a bad mood when discussing our Heavenly Father's word . . . NEVER!!!
Blessings!! |

I don't think having the mind of Christ would have any bearing on the amount and variety of font attributes and smilies you use and how they make your posts difficult to read.
BTW... was that an aside on my status as a Christian? |

Truly, Rev, I wish you'd lighten up a little bit and lets be FRIENDS in the Lord, at the very least!
And NO, DEFINATELY NOT, it was NOT and "aside" on you being a Christian! I am just funnin' with you and trying to keep it light between us.
There's a song from years past that says "PUT ON A HAPPY FACE".
There's no easier way to convey cheer, joy, and happiness than poppin one of these "Emoticons" on the screen. Try it, then read your responses with all the little faces you've used, you'll find it will cheer yourself up as you read your own stuff and you may not have been that "Cheery" when you started writing it. It does the same for anyone else reading too.
As the old saying goes, "If you see someone without a smile, GIVE THEM YOURS!"
I love you, Brother; and I hope you're having a BLESSED DAY!!! |
