Hosea 2: 1: Say ye unto your brethren, Ammi; and to your sisters, Ru-hamah.
2: Plead with your mother, plead: for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband: let her therefore put away her whoredoms out of her sight, and her adulteries from between her breasts;
3: Lest I strip her naked, and set her as in the day that she was born, and make her as a wilderness, and set her like a dry land, and slay her with thirst.
4: And I will not have mercy upon her children; for they be the children of whoredoms.
5: For their mother hath played the harlot: she that conceived them hath done shamefully: for she said, I will go after my lovers, that give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, mine oil and my drink.

..............

13: And I will visit upon her the days of Baalim, wherein she burned incense to them, and she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and she went after her lovers, and forgat me, saith the LORD.
14: Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortably unto her.

15: And I will give her her vineyards from thence, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope: and she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.
16: And it shall be at that day, saith the LORD, that thou shalt call me Ishi; and shalt call me no more Baali.
17: For I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name.
18: And in that day will I make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven, and with the creeping things of the ground: and I will break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the earth, and will make them to lie down safely.
19: And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies.

I needed to post these scriptures to give context in regards to the woman who is brought into the wilderness. Is this the same woman of Revelation 12 who fled into the wilderness for 1260 days? I'm going on the assumption it is. However, verse 18 is what sstruck me today because it sounds like what transpired with Peter in Acts.

Acts 11:5: I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me:
6: Upon the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air. 7: And I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat.
8: But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth.
9: But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
10: And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven.

Any thoughts, anyone?

Hos:1:1: The word of the Lord that came unto Hosea, the son of Beeri, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel.

Not all the children of Judah and Israel followed after the God of Abraham.

They had taken to themselves other gods thereby defiling themselves with their covenant with god to be their children.

God being the bridegroom and His church the bride.

He was angry at them for running after other gods.

Hos:1:2: The beginning of the word of the Lord by Hosea. And the Lord said to Hosea, Go, take unto thee a wife of wh88doms and children of wh88doms: for the land hath committed great wh88dom, departing from the Lord.

In this case it was Baalim.

Hos:1:7: But I will have mercy upon the house of Judah, and will save them by the Lord their God, and will not save them by bow, nor by sword, nor by battle, by horses, nor by horsemen.

15: And I will give her her vineyards from thence, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope: and she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.

So God gave them a new name to follow him by. OH this is so cool..

16: And it shall be at that day, saith the LORD, that thou shalt call me Ishi; and shalt call me no more Baali.
17: For I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name

Like Adam they will have dominion over the beasts...

Maybe this is talking about the new heaven and new earth...

6: Upon the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air. 7: And I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat.

needless to say this bothers me....

That is some great stuff Mojo!
Many interpret the woman in Rev 12 as being Israel, thought I've heard some say she's the church. They may both be right. God may be depicting His Israel in Rev 12.

It seems like Israel is the one being spoken to in the passage in Hosea that you shared. The Lord says she's been unfaithful and followed after false gods but He will bring her back to Him. I think that was fulfilled in God's spiritual Israel, the church.

The reasons I think the passage in Hosea is a prophecy about the church are:

1.) In verse 16 the Lord says Israel will call Him Ishi, not Baali. Baal, I understand, is a word that just means Lord. Ishi means MAN! This sounds like a beautiful Messianic prophecy of when God would come in human flesh to reconcile lost Israel to Himself!

2.) In verse 18 it says He will make a covenant with the beasts, the fowls and the creeping things. You pointed out that that verse sounds a lot like what Peter saw in his vision. Peter's vision was the Lord showing him that He did not consider the Gentiles unclean and that His plan was to bring salvation to them as well as Israel. Another beautiful prophecy of the early church, and God opening the door of salvation to the Gentiles!

So I think the passage in Hosea would indicate the woman in Rev 12 is Israel, but God's true Israel, not national Israel.
